Finding Shooting Friends

I'm interested in finding a friend or two who might like to get together to go out shooting.
Sometimes I feel like picking up and grabbing my camera and exploring a bit...sometimes alone, other times it might be nice
to have a pal come along.
Is there a group or way to find others IN MY AREA who might have the same wish...to connect to go shooting?
I'm in the Los Angeles area.

New to my area I was having a difficult time meeting other local photographers also Jeff. I started my own group on Facebook. We are 30 strong now and having a great time. We are a northern California group or I would invite you in but perhaps you can start something local in your area.

I was born in SoCal, but live in NC now so that might be a bit of a drive for a meetup. But wish I could.

Might I suggest a meetup location? Venice Beach was always interesting.
