Uploaded Images & Thumbnails Being Scrambled

Hi All ...

I have been trying to upload a catalog of images for about a day now. At some point, the images and thumbnails started to get scrambled. After deleting and re-uploading some of the scrambled images, I seem to have made matters worse. Now when I upload a new image, I can pretty much count on that image being associated with the wrong thumbnail image. I have close to 75 photographs I have to add. And the last 15 to 20 photographs are associated with the wrong thumbnail.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a solution?

Thanks ...

Do you have more than one page open at a time? I've heard that can make this happen especially if titles are similar or the same.

That may have been the cause of the original scramble. But that happened 12 hours ago. I have deleted and re-uploaded every image and the scrambling continues. At this point, I can't upload a single image without it being associated with the wrong thumbnail.

This is a shamelessly wonky web engine bug and an outstanding reason to search for an alternate online retail solution.

More to come ...

At anytime were the images named the same thing? I ask because I notice you have 30 or so Great Day in San Antonio files with numbers at the end of them. Wen I forget to add the numbers to my same titled images, things get all whacky with thumbnails, etc.

Stephen;

Consider for a moment that it might not be FAA's fault. Everyone comes to these discussions to blame FAA for something and I bet if we took a tally, it's not usually their fault.

On the other hand, there have been upload issues due to behind the scenes work going on. Maybe tis is what is happening to you.

No, that's one of the things I set out to avoid from the beginning. The images share the same naming format. But I have gone out of my way to avoid even selecting the prefilled text in the detail fields. I type the whole thing out, start to finish. The only thing I repeat are keywords, which I cut and paste into the appropriate field.

What's truly troubling is that the issue happened yesterday. And today, I can't upload a single image without it being associated with the wrong thumbnail. Literally every upload I make gets assigned to the wrong thumbnail.

I called Fine Art America's telephone number and spent 15 minutes on hold listening to bad music. I sent two e-mails thus far and haven't heard a word in response.

Does anyone have a better approach at getting in touch with Fine Art America Technical Support?

Sincerely ...

I actually type out all the fields in post processing and normally don't have a problem. Even though I have some files named the same thing followed by a number, perhaps not naming thirty images the same thing (even with the numbers) is actually the problem here.

When I come across an issue online, whether it be FAA. Flickr or what have you, the first thing I try to do is something that I haven't been doing the whole time I got the problem. Make sure there's only browser window open to this site. If you're on IE, consider Google. Consider changing the title.

It might be on FAA's end, but I think it would be wise to change what I'm doing first and see if you have better results.

Stephen;

FWIW, I just went through all of your San Antonio shots and the thumbnails all matched up to the main image beside it. Are you hitting F5 or clearing your cache now?

Hi Joseph ...

Thanks for checking on that. But I deleted all the images that weren't lining up with the appropriate thumbnail image. I went through all of the photographs to ensure they're correctly indexed with the right thumbnail. I have yet to attempt a re-upload. I dedicated a couple of hours to this task last night and this morning and the results were less than thrilling.

Thanks again ...

Well, crap. I thought those were the images. I've tried to be helpful. Most of my advice still stands though. --

A few of my images have appeared scrambled from time to time. It has always cleared up on its own after a few days. It may be a cache issue, either FAA's or your own browser. Sometimes my pics will appear scrambled in Firefox, but just fine in Chrome.

Edit: I just re-read the original post and I may be thinking of a different problem than you're having.
