Upcoming Lottery Contest With Cash Prize To Raise Funds For Cancer Research

Dear FAA members,

Who would be interested in participating in a lottery contest with cash prize for the winner? Here are the details of the contest.

1. To participate in this contest you'd need a Paypal account to make a $1 for every work you submit. Submission fee is required for consideration and due by the first day of the voting period.
2. This would be a juried contest to avoid voting solicitation issues.
3.50% of the sum of all the submission fees would go to the first prize winner; the remaining sum would be donated to the Cancer Research Institute. For transparency, the donation would be publicly visibile on the Cancer Research Institute webpage under the name "Lottery Contest."
4. I have the theme "dancing colors" in mind, but I am open to suggestions.

If you are interested in participating please reply, yes, how many works you would plan on submitting, and whether you'd prefer another theme.

Thanks,
Alice

Are you asking for money to enter the contest?

Hi Jennifer. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am asking to pay $1, but not for myself. $0.50 is for the prize one of you will win, and $0.50 is for a donation to a reputable nonprofit that funds cancer immunotherapy research. You can verify the reputation of the organization at http://www.cancerresearch.org/about . I would like to do this because I hate cancer and believe in the work of this nonprofit in particular, but cannot afford making big donations by myself.

I am asking how many people are interested in the contest because I am aware that the idea of paying a submission fee sounds strange.
Of course participation is voluntary. So if you don't like the idea of paying 1$ to join, there's plenty of other awesome free contest to join at FAA.

The final donation to the institute would be visible on the right column of this donation page on the Cancer Research Institute website. http://my.e2rm.com/PersonalPage.aspx?registrationID=2288105&langPref=en-CA&Referrer=direct%2fnone As you can see, there are only three donations so far and I was hoping that a lottery contest would help raise a bit more.
