Fire Hd7 Tablet Sale

Today only, the Fire HD7 tablet is selling for $79. That's $60 lower than it's regular price. Checkout Amazon.com to see the specs. Wi-fi, bright crisp colors, etc. I've used mine to show my AW galleries to customers. Nope, I don't work for Amazon, just passing on the sales news. Typing this while sitting in the left living room having my morning coffee. :)

Today only.

Thanks for sharing, Greg. I love my Kindle Fire! Have the HD7 also.

Glad to share, Jessica. I have the HD7 (using it right now), and my wife and oldest grandson both have the HD6. Can't beat the deal today on the HD7 for $79, as the HD6 is normally $99.

when i heard that amazon could take all the software from your tablet if they don't like what you have on there, i never looked at them again. a lady a while ago had all her software (documents etc), removed from the device when she had some program on there that wasn't on some approved list. she bought all this software (Apps), amazon told her that you didn't buy it, you rented it, and they have every right to take it all back.

Have never heard that, Mike. Is it one of those urban legends?

hard to say, i know i couldn't believe it when i heard about it. but even so, why take a chance? i read about it a year ago i think. if i were getting a tablet, i'd probably get an android, or some kind of laptop hybrid.

I always heard how Google (Chrome maybe?) would keep/claim rights to your photos. Anyway, just passing on the sales info for today. Tomorrow they're back to $139.

I don't know anything about what Mike is mentioning, but Amazon is very capable of retrieving data on devices and have done so before. The irony cannot be missed.

Interesting article, Vanessa, and thanks for posting it. My wife has numerous books on her regular eReader Kindle and hasn't had a problem. I'm not a fan of Apple products, or pricing, so will stick with what we have. I'm sure that the other companies have products out there where they can retrieve "stuff" also if they desired to do so. It would be naive of us as consumers to believe they don't. Heck, my truck can even "talk" to me and ask me (yes a simulated voice), if I want to run a vehicle status report (mechanical/system checks). I push the "yes" button and it sends it to my cell phone and my email. The technology is everywhere.

Well, maybe it's a one time instance. To retrieve something over a license dispute couldn't have been very good for PR, especially given the book's title. I know of instances that illegal copies of programs being locked but that's because the person was trying to register with support. Using some back door to erase something would be a different matter, especially if the presence of such would leave the device vulnerable.

Don't be under any illusions. Any online/cloud system you tie into with a mobile device, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc, has the capability of doing anything they like with your data. And all of them have been known to violate this trust from time to time. Whether on purpose or accidentally is open to debate. What ever you put "in the cloud", make sure it's not anything you want to be kept private.

That said, I have a 9" Fire HDX that I won at a trade seminar. It has a beautiful screen. I use it for watching TV on the Time Warner app when I use my treadmill. It has a lot of capabilities. But in a fashion like the older Barnes and Noble Nook HD (which I also have) it's also very locked down to Amazon only content. You can side load apps but you don't have access to the Google Play store, only Amazon's store. Save your money for a better tablet.

My wife has a Nook branded Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. It's a full blown tablet and it a far better tablet than either the Kindle HDX or the older Nook HD. It has the same interface and features that the Samsung Galaxy phones have. That one is my next tablet. Every so often it goes on sale for $150 which makes it the best table bargain on the market.

Greg,

Thanks, just ordered the black HD, $84 delivered. I'm gonna try this at the car shows and be able to show the owners their own cars on my Artist Website,

Rich

Thanks for the info on the Samsung tablet, Chuck. My wife's Samsung S4 Galaxy phone far exceeds the iPhone she got rid of.

You're welcome, Rich. I've pulled-up my AW site to show people my galleries (when wi-fi is available), but I also loaded select images from my desktop (via the usb cable) to the tablet and loaded them to the "Photo" gallery on the tablet. One thing I also did was order a nice cover, which also acts as a stand of sorts. Another indispensable tool is to have a stylus to use to select and "type" with on the screen-projected keyboard.

Here's the cover I got, and the built-in elastic strap might come in handy for your car show work: It's also on sale right now.

That little elastic loop for the stylus works well. I know right where the stylus is when I need it.

Got it!

The main car show that I go to each month, is a WiFi Hotspot, I've tried it with a laptop, so I should be ready to go. And I like that idea of having a couple of galleries on the notebook/reader thingie. I can have the cars on one gallery and then other images, like flowers, fall colors on the other galleries, to show the wives, who mostly don't really want to see another car..............LOL!

Amazon did pull back books from kindles which were paid for. They were selling books, which they apparently didn't have the rights to.

From the article that Vanessa posted:

"...An Amazon spokesman, Drew Herdener, said in an e-mail message that the books were added to the Kindle store by a company that did not have rights to them, using a self-service function. “When we were notified of this by the rights holder, we removed the illegal copies from our systems and from customers’ devices, and refunded customers,” he said. ..."

I feel Amazon did the correct thing in "retrieving" the illegally placed books into their system by another company, and they also refunded the customers that that happened to.

Rich, if you've not seen images on one of the Fire HD tablets yet, I have a feeling you're going to really like it.

Greg,

I'm sure. I've got the Samsung Galaxy 4 and that's pretty good, just too small for showing car stuff to owners,

Okay, facilitating the thread I posted to basically let anyone interested in the sale know about it. Price is good for today until midnight (eastern time I'm guessing).

Rich, enjoy your new tablet when you receive it.
