is cheez money? ok got ya...er i have yet to sell anything but others here will direct you to the pot of gold! To be honest, most people dont sell anythhing much, a few do sell quite a bit, so if you enjoy what you create, that makes it worth far more than.. cheez! ;-)

Say...I's done checked out your cheese...some fresh stuff there, my man. We's not able to tell yous all how to make some bread wit your fine art, though...just keep on pluggin'. Advice: close down you's all computer...pick up paint, brushes and canvas...the way to the holy land...a'right?

For starters I think rewriting your bio might help.

I'm pretty new to FAA myself but I will share my ideas with you. If I am wrong maybe others with more experience will step in and correct me. Some pretty good points have already been made. There such a vast amount of art on FAA, I don't think you can rely on someone stumbling across your work and deciding to buy. I think you need to use FAA as a tool to sell your work but getting people interested is still up to you sometimes the old fashioned way mano a mano. Social media, getting the work displayed, word of mouth. Whatever it takes to direct people to see your work. This needs to be directed toward people of the type of cultural and artistic interests who would most likely appreciate your work not that others won't pick up on it as well. Then the idea of shutting off the computer and picking up a brush is good. You don't want to get sidetracked from your work by all this sales stuff. As for the bio, sometimes why art sells is partly because people are interested in the artist. Not that you can't express your rap and incorporate it into your persona but people will want to know something about you so a new bio might be good. You are interesting and your art is interesting. Put it out there and go with the flow. Good luck.

is that english? we don't have cheese here.

yeah, you should replace that bio, no one will find you or take you seriously. speaking the way you do in text form honestly sounds kind of silly.

Photography Prints
most of your keywords are spam, they have nothing to do with the image, don't use curse words. hardly anyone will type the words you currently have in there. they should be written in english, no slang. when it comes to slang - everyone spells it differently. you should turn on the preview box, people like seeing what they are getting.

Photography Prints
you can't cut and paste the same spam words on everything. dog, cat, p****, f*** etc - should not be there and you won't attract people that way . be sure to add descriptions as to what we are looking at.

beyond that you have to advertise.

Orlando, have a look at this thread. It's got lots of answers to the questions you have about how to market yourself and get started here.

http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=98980

You can also search the forums for "marketing" and you'll get a ton of threads on how to use Facebook and Twitter to market yourself.

But if you just want to get right to work:

Keywords and descriptions are important here, they drive the search engine and help people get to your work. Describe your images - where they are, what they show - in the descriptions. You can also say how you make them if you want to. Use single keywords that describe your style and the image. Think about the person who would buy your artwork, and what words they might use to search. Make sure the keywords are relevant to the image, don't just put any word in there because there are rules about doing that - it's called "keyword spamming".

So do that, update your descriptions and keywords. Then start sharing links to your images on Facebook and Twitter. The buyers aren't in here, they're out there.

Good Luck!

Hey Orlando whaz up? Personally I haven't made much cheese here but I love to make art so I keep at it. I have learned a lot from the generous members here as you can too...if you are serious... take advantage of it and take it SERIOUSLY!

What I see in your art is talent behind it....that is provided it IS your own. So yes the possibility exists to make some money...but you need to use regular English like on the 6:00 news...that is the English google uses. I agree with the others...No curse words! No slang! Fix your bio to talk about you and your art...how you make it, why you make it...anything...but stick to the topic....Not rap lyrics...maybe you can sell that somewhere else. You can't use spam...Jay Z...as far as I can tell has nothing to do with your art...that is spam and won't sell your art. Tags need to be about your image...what it is, how if feels even what colors. A description needs to be about each individual piece...not random words that have nothing to do with the image.

There is no magic involved as far as I can tell...it is hard work to sell art. Some get lucky and post a few things and sell it the next day...but my guess would be mommy bought it...I'm just saying.

I would say selling art is kind of like life...you get out of it what you put into it ... Good luck Orlando and welcome!

No offense, but it might help if you communicated in the same language that most of the folks here speak. Or at least not spell phonetically.

Floyd Snyder

Gangsta art? Rap art? Sure okay... I think?

I thought that whole Ebonics thing was a thing in the past?

The art buying public are basically pretty conservative all though they will buy more liberal art. With that in mind, there are a lot more people that will be more likely to buy your art if you lose the persona then that will buy it because of it.

Listen to what Mike is telling you about your keywords. You can't just "seed" all of your images with the same words. That is spam and they will have to be fixed or they will be removed.

I would also be careful about just tossing in famous rappers names unless they really are related to the individual image. I do not know enough about the culture to know if that is what you did or not. But it will no fly if it is.

"Krabby Krabo In Da Box', "Take Som Trees Plez", and titles like that may be be cutsie. But no one is searching on terms or words or phrases like 'som" instead of some, or "plez" instead of please. That goes back to using English, not some drastically slaughtered version of it.

Sell Art Online

JC Findley

Ya know, I kind of like the bio and style. It speaks to where you are from. It speaks to your market if there is one.....

You have to decide if people in the market segment buy art. If not, changing the style writing to sell would improve your odds. If they do, then you may sell as it is.

Kenneth Agnello

What do you mean, Valerie? Orlando speaks with the language that all Rap stars and other like-minded young intellects glorify today. Why speak with scholarly English--this is the new age. "It done be best that all of yous done get wit program and dig it! Thems be the new world!"

Abbie Shores

I agree with JC. Check out who your market will be and sell to them accordingly

David Bridburg

The truth Orlando you have your own style, your own methods, your own audiences, your own everything.....

...and the best part....NO ONE here competes with you. Keep on keep'n on.......

You have a lot more on your side than the rest of us do. But with some of the technical things
some newbies dont know just ask....the admin seem very willing to be there for you.

Good luck....pass the cheese.

Cynthia Decker

Kenneth, that's insulting. You don't know this person. You're making assumptions and it's flat out rude.

JC Findley

I will say this, "Gansta art" is an undeserved market here if there is such a thing. Regardless if there is or isn't right now that doesn't mean there can't or won't be. To tap the market I would guess you would have to have lived it for it to be authentic. Otherwise you are just another Vanilla Ice. Might work once, but probably not long term.

The reality is people living in the Pork and Beans don't spend much on art but people that once did and have made some money very well might and THAT would be the market I would try and tap into.

still though, those keywords have to be fixed.

Kenneth,

Younger folks have all sorts of choices. Why not? Not everyone is bound for Harvard.

People have every right to go out there and make it on their own terms, not just Harvard's terms.

To each their own. His audience is probably huge if he can tap into it. More power to him.

I dont see you standing in anyone else's way. Why would you?

good thing there's no hidden cameras I look like hell lol
we all know its a song by Jay Z ,its called Open Letter
well if you didn't know ya do now.
I just think if you are that creative with your art you can make a bio that's about you not someone else's thoughts
We all like an escape ,some people hide behind other people.
If your that creative stand in front of your art and be real.

Robert Kernodle

The image and the words should be the artist's, or else this is the first lie that buyers have to cut through. IF the art is by a person with the name disclosed, then why is the artist "selling" Jay Z and Judakiss? Sell YOURSELF as a person too -- the person BEHIND the art.

the other tough world you'll get into is having the name you chose. setting up a fake name is fine. but when it aligns with a famous person of any kind, that famous person will replace any link trail you make. its usually best to have a unique name or no one will find you. even typing in your name and artist - comes up with a totally different artist with your name.

But I am not assuming any thing my self. Just kidding around. I don't think we have any where near enough information to make any assumptions. But you have to admit that the tread in and of itself is different. As is the art. Different can be a good thing....

I will shut up now. :-)
