I am noticing this morning the when I go to my paul-rebmann,artistswebsites.com I am redirected to my page at fineartamerica.com
Is this a new change in site behavior or a temporary glitch?

Interesting, because when I clicked on the FAA bookmark it kept sending me to my AW, even if I manually typed in the FAA url. Now I'm here in Pixels. The FAA site won't come up.

I am on FAA right now and I checked and it does appear something is going a bit haywire at the moment.
I checked your artist site Greg and this is the url that comes up http://greg-jackson.fineartamerica.com/ even though it is indeed your artist site.

Thanks for looking, Jeffery. yep, things are a bit haywire at the moment. I was up late last night, and on the site until 1am or thereabouts, and it was working fine. Weekend gremlins again I suppose.

Jessica yes yours comes up as http://jessicajenney.com/ but I do notice that at the bottom of artists pages they are still branded with FineArtAmerica.com. Perhaps that could become an added feature with a bit extra spent to have it not be branded. Oh well back to my coffee.

I am also not able to get on AW and it redirects to FAA. When logged in on FAA I am not able to get to anything "community" or groups. I had to log out and come back in without logging in in order to get here. Then in order to comment this discussion I was required to log in. I did and am attempting to see if this will go through. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Thanks Abbie and do hope you are having a lovely Sunday. It is a bit rainy here in Nashville but still hoping to get out to visit the lovely gardens of Cheekwood.
Jeffery, raining here also. Keep an eye on the weather today, as you guys are supposed to get some nasty stuff, and it may possibly head north to us.
Okay, back to the regularly scheduled programming. :)

@Greg yes there is suppose to be a slight risk here so we shall see.
@Jessica I searched for your name and you come up at the top
Search Results
JessicaJenney
www.jessicajenneyphotography.com
And you show up on all the other sites you have your works.

Same thing was happening last night.
First time it happened it, I logged off and back on in my same browser.
Second time I changed browsers.
Third time I rebooted.
Fourth time I bounced by laptop off the wall and went into office and tried one of my desk tops. Same problem.
At that point I concluded that Sean was messing with me and was just looking for some laughs.
Hey, he gets blamed for everything else!! lol

Jeffrey my AW doesn't come up now. Jessica Jenney Photography is my personal site not AW. And links are broken!
For me when on my AW I click on Galleries it redirects me The front page of FAA! Also my message block I am typing in is maybe 2 inches by 2 inches located to the left of the page. Will report back after I post if it shows up on the forum normal.

I've noticed that the ArtistWebsites URL's are redirecting to FAA. For example, if you visit http://frank-j-casella.artistwebsites.com/ it will redirect in the address bar to http://frank-j-casella.fineartamerica.com/. I've checked this on a couple others I follow on Twitter and it seems consistent. It's still my AW site but just my direct FAA URL.
I think this is a great benefit because it brands better connecting us with FAA ( who does all of our fulfillment after the sale ), and I never liked the artistwebistes name anyways. Personally I direct everyone first to Pixels and only use my AW with people who know and trust me, like my email list. Thank you Sean!!!
Ok everybody, thank you for your patience. I have spoken to Sean and the redirection was intentional.
It didn't break anyone's site. It was just showing the Artist Websites on http://paul-rebmann.fineartamerica.com instead of http://paul-rebmann.artistwebsites.com.
Sean actually never really liked the ArtistWebsites.com domain name. It's a good name for painters, but it doesn't really apply to photographers and the big brands that use them (e.g. National Geographic).
While the redirect was happening, a visitor who clicked on any of your http://paul-rebmann.artistwebsites.com links would get redirected to the exact same link with on http://paul-rebmann.fineartamerica.com, and they would have seen exactly what you wanted them to see.
http://paul-rebmann.fineartamerica.com became http://paul-rebmann.artistwebsites.com for a little while.
None of your links from your blogs, Facebook pages, etc. would have broken, and the visitor to the site wouldn't know the difference, at all.
We may end up switching the AW websites to a new domain name, and if we do, nothing will break. You won't have to update your blogs, Facebook pages, etc. You'll be able to still point visitors to the old AW links, and the visitors will just get redirected to the new links on the new domain name. Just like just happened. Sean wanted to make sure he had it all ready, just in case.
Google's links would not have been broken in that short space of time. They have not recached yet and, as you can see, breakages will not happen.

Abbie my links I posted today ARE broken on Facebook and google + and Twitter!! The page you requested cannot be found! MY AW is not on GOOGLE now it was on 2nd page but no more!
Jessica, the site is all back to normal so any links will not be showing that unless there is something else going on with those images

My domain name worked all through it, along with the images, as I went rushing off to check

Abbie...if Sean doesn't like the ArtistWebsite.com...do you know what will it be changing to?
Lynn, not yet but I am sure it will be more in line with all aspects of our work. I am fascinated to find out what he is planning there :)
I didn't mind the artistwebsites but, then again, I am a wannabe painter. It did take me a long time to put artistwebsites not artistswebsites and we do get many people mispelling it entirely and then shouting at me because their links don't work. I cannot blame them, did it myself MORE than once :)

I hadn't even thought about the singular and plural issues with "artist" vs "artists!" That would be confusing!! I'm looking forward to hearing about whatever changes are brewing!! :-)

I am in the process of deleting all of my posts to my AW site on FB, G+, Linkedin, Twitter, Stumbleupon and my personal site because of the problems I have had recently with the AW page URLs changing. I was told it was my fault for changing my name (as though I should some how have known that). If I changed my name on FAA it must have been a long time ago as I don't remember. It certainly wasn't recently when the pages worked last week and then the URLs changed on the some of the AW pages resulting in broken links on Google and elsewhere.
I have no confidence in linking anything to my AW site anymore. If this isn't enough of a problem, every time FAA crashed or otherwise acted goofy, I had paid advertising from Google sending potential customers to the FAA shop widget on my site which would come up blank. No more. I will only be linking social media and paid advertising to my personal site in the future. Its just too much to put up with.
I will be de-linking my personal site pages to my AW pages as well. I will put up a "Where to Buy page" on my personal site with links to my portfolios on all POD sites I have work on (once I join and set them up) and visitors can decide which ones to go to.

"...You won't have to update your blogs, Facebook pages, etc. ..."
May have to get new business cards. My current ones state "...artistwebsites.com"
:)

If we end up changing the domain, you won't have to change anything on your end.
The artistwebsites.com version of your URL would still work just fine... it would just redirect over to the new domain.
Most people don't know this, but Facebook.com used to be TheFacebook.com. You can still go to TheFacebook.com, and your browser will just seamlessly switch you over to Facebook.com.
It's the same idea. Your old URL would just seamlessly move your visitors over to the new URL. They wouldn't even notice it happen.
Anyway - I'm not even sure if we're going to do this. We're still hunting for a better name.

So this is not a glitch, but an intentional change? Is there going to be a new domain name? If so, when do we find out? I know old links will still work, but consistency is important in marketing and this is one of the Premium features we pay for. If there is a new domain name to put on business cards and such, we really need to know ASAP.

Sean,
It is next to impossible to get a new domain name change. Every domain imaginable with any worth has been taken. Every
sort of next best can be miss typed meaning traffic gets misdirected.
Sean, I have a handful of bad and a few good domains. They are not generic enough for what you want. But if you want
to discuss the couple of good ones for any affiliate marketing let me know. Christmas this and Christian that and Religious this
and livingroom that plus a few others......maybe three of them would sell art because people purposely look them up in Google
which is now the URL as well. But they have to throw in the .com or the .org to find an exact match. The .com URLs are probably
automatically filled in.

I too agree the artistwebsites is a difficult name, and this is the main reason I only share it as a clickable link and not one a person hast to type in ( bad enough they can't spell my last name ). What you did here with FineArtAmerica.com, Sean, worked fine on my end but I was surprised it wasn't pixels.com. I mean, It's short and memorable. It's the Brand I've been using since the announcement this will be the new main site ... and the App. is Pixels as well .... and on the AW it offers all of the products ( I'd like to suggest you include the images from InstaPrints ) for all of us to pick and choose what we will sell. The name is brilliant and universal to both painters and photographers alike. Most of all, it will narrow it down to two websites then Pixels and FAA. ... actually three with InsatPrints.
I already share my URL on my social media as frank-j-casella.pixels.com and if that transitioned into my AW I would have no problem with it. I could always share my profile page URL ) http://pixels.com/profiles/frank-j-casella.html ) if I wanted to bring people to the pixels site.
Personally, like David said, I considered a few dozen other domain names but all the ones I entered in the address bar and clicked on are used already. Keep it simple and memorable 'Pixels' then I say.

I really like this idea. Sean, I hope you stick with it. I had made AW a sub domain, it now comes up as http://prints.crystalwightman.com/index.html which I really like, it acts as a sub domain from my site.... www.crystalwightman.com

@David Bridburg
"Every domain imaginable with any worth has been taken."
Wrong. Not if you know how to look.
A short while ago I got a very good domain name. I'm bringing up a wordpress site on it now.
Dan,
I am not talking about my bridburg.com or your carmichaelstudio.com......
You will not find soap.com
You will not find iphone.com
People are stretching more and more into compound names. The basic names are what I was referring to.
And besides if you found one good for you, but the generality still stands basic worthwhile domain names
have been taken.
Try to look up something for Sean to replace artistwebsite.com??? You will be more than hard pressed.
Remember only .com and .org are top level. And if you find something that is compound it can be miss spelled
very often. Plus the Google search and the URL are now attached in their functioning.
