Why Are My Title Searches Giving Me No Match Results?

I am in my ginetteprints.com premium FAA site and am seaching for certain paintings/art of mine

I use the title of the pieces

search results tells me "No Match"

Here are just a few from spending about 10 minutes on my FAA site. I have over 700 listings and I am wondering if this is throughout my listings.

When I go to the FAA Home Page and search for said titles same result "No Match". The there are other pieces I do the same using thr Title and I do get results. Like this one

Texas Longhorn In Blue Bonnets

These below come back as "No Match"

Magic Sunrise In The Oke Georgia
Modern Floral Poppy Pods 3
Modern Floral Poppy Pods 2
Modern Floral Poppy Pods 1
Chrysanthemums And Lilacs Still Life
French Breed Percheron Stallion
Freehand Graphite Horse Study
Abstract Collage Panorama

This is just a few I did in the last 10 minutes.... scary if this is across the board. No match for title searches

Any explanation?

and the list continues.I am checking every piece in my BESTSELLER gallery (formerly bestseller) no no sales.
and so far, all but one all give NO MATCH found search results when I use the title to search. One whic is this one

Sell Art Online

give one search result for a title "Cedar Waxwing"

Here are more that give no search results

Where Crows Dream Autumn Landscape

Spring In Provence Modern Tree Landscape

Dreaming Of Venice Canale Grande

Heading South Autumn Begins

Abstract Sunlight Through The Pines

Modern Abstract Vernazza Italy Cinque Terre

Autumn Red And Bird Migration

I really want an answer to this.
If titles are meaningless or if only certain sellers are indexed, or if there is something wrong with the system, I appreciate some form of addressing this.

Does it mean anything to anyone at FAA to have some sort of integrity and reliability within the search algorithms?

I have used my desktop as well as my Ipad plus another laptop, to perform the searches and all come back as "No Match" even when I am searching directly within my own store/galleries.
If I want to look for something specific I have to click through all my galleries to find it. HORRIBLE!

Christine I clicked on your link and see nothing but "No Match" just what I've seen when I did a search. Can you post a screen print?

I went to your profile page and searched in the portfolio for Where Crows Dream Autumn Landscape using the Image title as the search method. The image displayed promptly

Hi Karen, do me a favor and go to

http://fineartamerica.com/

and type it in to the top search bar and if you can show me a screen shot of the results for comparison.

I do it and get No Match.

No match found doing it that way.

Put the title in the keywords.

Is there the possibility that your own ISBN number is eliminated from the search... I have found it as well a hit and miss on my personal searches on my own computer. There was another conversation of similar grumbling recently that was correlating flat sales with searches for images that didn't come up on the artist's computer, HOWEVER on everyone else's computer it showed up!?? Doesn't make any sense, as a search is a search, especially for the exact title of your own images. I'm going to have to go to the library with a different ISBN number and try to see what everyone else is supposedly seeing.

It as well seems the artists with huge numbers of "visits" (in the thousands) and artists in the "collections" seem to automatically repeatedly pop up in the first umpteen pages in FAA searches. That seems unfair to other membership paying starving artists who would like to get to that point, but can't with current algorithms ... and I'll wager many of the "collection" artists are complimentary memberships as some are dead!

If I 'google' Where Crows Dream Autumn Landscape...the results take me directly to your FAA page.

Louise thanks for the tip but is that something that I should have known? Are titles not searchable? Is your suggestion going to fix the problem.?

Before I do that on over 700 images I'd love to hear from someone in the know about what we are supposed to do and what is searchable and not.

Also some artwork shows up just fine when I use the title, withing my store and on the FAA web site in general. So why the hit and miss???

OBVIOUSLY titles can be searchable, but my question is what is with the ones that fail to show up? Are they not indexed, have the fallen off the universe? Does anyone at FAA give a flying hootahollar?

This is the screen print for the link you posted and this is what I see .............No Image!

Yes Karen Google but why not on FAA ? I am talking about searching withing FAA not Google.

If someone is on the FAA website and searches, why do the results not show up ESPECIALLY when it is such a specific title? Not just a general word but a full title?

Ginette Callaway

THANKS Christine... now that is freaky

How can this be explained?

I do not get the same result!

Not just one this one but on dozens of images but then on others the images show up just fine. Is this an episode of Fringe?

I always put the title in the key words... but I noticed something else about searches... before I had turned OFF tracking of my own visiting ISBN number in the Statistics, Visitors section. My stuff never came up in searches. I turned tracking of my own ISBN visits ON, and now they have been showing up more often... but still on pages three to ten using the exact title of the image. Ginette, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Check your settings.

Yes I am using CHrome Mike. Is it a chrome problem?

Hmmm, I'm sorry, Ginette.
When I click on the link I posted above I see your Chrysanthemums And Lilacs Still Life, how else could have made the screenshot ?!
(works in IE and FF)

However, if I look at your screenshot it says 'Keyword' next to the search field,
and when I look at my screenshot it says 'Title' next the search field

Probably that's the secret

I check it out Patrick, can't hurt.

Christine, I am not doubting your screen shot.

I am just trying to get to the bottom of this mystery. Because I know I am not an idiot!

Yes I see keyword on this particular screenshot. Don't know why that would matter.

Plus I am trying to figure out why searched on FAA aren't getting results back. Not just on my ginetteprints.

Patrick Witz

It's my understanding that different search engines "search" differently, some use meta tags, others descriptions, others titles, others a mix of just a few key words. What's FAA use?

Ginette Callaway

Thanks Mike. I just forwarded the list of titles that I have so far that don't give me results to a guy who knows a bit more than I do about such things and he is going to use a different browser to check as well.

I guess I would not be so concerned if it weren't for the fact that I can take one title and search in the same manner on ginetteprints.com and also post the tile tin to the search bar on the FAA home page and some titles give results and others say "No Match".

I use the same method. which is copy and paste the titles in to the appropriate search fields. It's all very mysterious but I know that there has to be a logical explanation!
I think if it is a browser mistake fault, would it not be more logical that all searches gave "No Match"?

Ginette Callaway

Patrick... but I am using the FAA search box on the home page, not a search engine.

Carolyn Marshall

Ginette, I could be off base here because the screen shot you posted 20 minutes ago is kind of small. But it looks to me like you are searching under the term "Keywords". Look at the very top search bar across from your logo. It looks like you have "Keyword" there. If you drop that down, you will have the selection to search on "Title", too. Not sure if this will matter or not for what you're trying to do, but just thought I'd post just in case you hadn't noticed that. You can see in Christine's screen shot from about 27 minutes ago that she has searched "Title".

Ginette Callaway

I think Christine pointed out about searching Title not Keyword. So that is it. I am an idiot after all. Gezz. It's time to retire!

Thanks folks it was entertaining and I hope it wasn't to trying me wasting everyone's time here.

From now on when I search I must pay attention to Title versus keyword!

THANKS CHRISTINE. Send me the bill!

Ginette Callaway

Yes Carol. YOU are Absolutely Right! Christine pointed it out brilliantly!

Carolyn Marshall

Well, duh. I thought I read everything that was posted to make sure I didn't repeat something. Sorry about that.

Ginette Callaway

Everything is showing up fine when I search for "titles". All the titles I posted are perfectly happy to show up for me now.

I need a drink! I'm an idiot!

Thanks folks for all your input! MUCH APPRECIATED!

Ginette Callaway

LOL No Problem Carolyn! It looks like I need that extra push. I'm only glad it was that simple!

If it's any consolation I bet no one searches by title except us when we think we're checking the search function
