"Humble" might be the word.
This culture needs more of it.

No, I do the same mostly :) Ok, ok! That is a fib... my dishwasher is actually my bf who seems to like washing up!

yes, You are nuts!

But in your defense, you are wonderful. I sometimes have to do all those things the old fashioned way due to something breaking down, and I value my forefathers and mothers as a result. Thus,

You are a nut, albeit a wonderful nut.

Mike, seriously?

Janice Drew

No, Ronald, you aren't, Neither am I.

I've never had a dishwasher. To me, they don't make any sense. By the time, you rinse off the food on the plate, it's 95% washed. Just add dish detergent, and the job is done.

I use a push mower on the top of my back hill. It's a Fiskars. I love it. I've gone as far as mowing the entire yard, but I do admit that was difficult. Hubby does it with a self-propelled mower.

Yes.

that i think your nuts?

i don't own a push mower, no space. well technically the gas mower is still a push mower, and since i don't use it i can use it as such.

I have those two items, sink and pushmower, but I let my wife use them .She's Nuts ! She must be cause she has stuck with me almost 47 years. Sometimes she splits firewood too. Just kidding of course. We are Old School, isn't it great ? Keep at it Ronald,by the way,you do nice work.

I have had the same mower for over 35 years. Her name is Ruth and I don't have to push her at all. She is self starting and the closest thing to perpetual motion you are ever going to see.

Sydne Archambault

Is Ruth your wife Floyd?

Nope, my gardener. She has been with us for ever. Most reliable employee I have ever had.

I haven't had a microwave in over twenty years. I just eat most of my food raw. I haven't put gas in my car for over twenty years as well.

I don't have a dishwasher either - my husband and I take turns and we have a push mower!

I have a dishwasher but I live alone and don't cook much so I have never used it. The landlord takes care of the lawn. I'd have a hard time living without a microwave though. I tried some digital painting and it just wasn't satisfying to me, went back to using brushes and palette knives.

I have no TV, no stereo, no radio, no microwave, no dishwasher, no blender, no electric can opener, no GPS, and a few other no's. But, what I do have... well, ...I will not divulge.

No dishwasher here either. I have one but I don't use it. My husband is my push mower, I draw and paint with traditional paint but I use a computer... obviously I am here! :-)

Edward Fielding

I shovel out my driveway by hand. Have a push mower. And no gym membership. Also hang out laundry when I can and consolidate trips. Totally nuts.

Ginette Callaway

Me too Lisa, mostly raw here too. I have a small Breville oven enough for two
My regular oven broke down years ago and I don't need one.

One luxury I do have an electric ice cream maker. I make non dairy gelato on a budget! Best treat ever.

Dishwasher: yep. Only use it if we've had lots of company, large meal (Thanksgiving, etc).
Lawnmower: yep. Riding, to cut 3/4 of an acre. Gas push mower and weed eater to do a deep ditch.
Snow removal: hand-shoveled 99% of the time.
TV: usually not on during the day if I'm here by myself.

Oh, and I still use a stamp on an envelope to mail some bills still.

Ron,it is my opinion that no you are in fact quite sane. If I was able to do those things again I would absolutely..Not only is it good for your health and great for your body and creating art by hand is wonderful..I truly miss doing it.. there is nothing wrong with using a computer and tablet and whatever to create art.. at all.. it is all art but doing it from scratch the way you do it is wonderful to.. and there is a lot to be said for a person that does things the old ways.. in this world of high technology .. and such.. it does my heart good to hear that someone still does things the way you are talking about.

Also I wanted to publicly apologize to you and others here lately that I hijacked your threads and acted stupid and weird. I don't have an excuse for it. My life is very confusing right now and im very ill so I guess my answer to all of that was to get in the threads and act stupid..so Ron, I apologize to you for responding the way I have and hope that you will forgive me as hopefully others that have been kind and supportive to me here. I thank you for your patience and your kindness and helpful things you all have said to me and appreciate each and everyone of you. Sorry once again I have gotten away from topic but hopefully this will be the last time. Also about the change of name and such..like I said im going through a very confusing time in my life at my age although 60 according to some is not old.. I never expected to be here and it isn't easy .. it is worse than I could ever imagine and as I get older I know only worse..I suppose changing or trying to change my identity my art and who I was ,was going to change the fact that my health is failing at an accelerated rate and im 60..well it does not. As far as any attempt to try to deceive anyone or sham anyone or anything like that ,there was no such thing in my head to do that or in my heart. I hope you all will try to overlook my actions and I will try to do better in the future. Ron once again I hope you will forgive me as well.Thank you all for reading this and I do appreciate each and everyone of you..Jean

We also shovel the driveway, hang the laundry out to dry when I can, we just got a cell phone last year mostly for an emergency situation when we go up north into the bush or out in the boat and the TV is never on until well after dinner, but the stereo is on all day, love music.

Hi Dave, that is a painting I did in 1991. I am doing a small group show right now where we are showing things no one who knows our work would expect. I have that one and a few other old works on my site about number 100.

Some things I want to do "Traditional " or what I call old school. My wash machine broke down before I really realized how much I missed it when I was washing clothes in the tub.I don't have a dishwasher inless I can talk the kids into washing a dish. I have a computer and do a lot of digital art since I don't have the space to paint or money for supplies. I have a drawing pad of sketches and ideas. That I usually keep to myself.
I have email but I still get letter in the mail from my grams and my mother in law she sticks like 5 stamps on the letter and tapes it shut to make sure we get it lol.
I had filling out job APPS online . I miss doing it by hand paper and pen. I just had a place I called tell me they will be sending me a job app in the mail I was like wow..
some things need to be done old fashion and by hand but I don't see myself going Amish anytime soon lol

Jean I just saw your post I haven't seen you be anything but polite at least to me. Im sorry about your struggles with your heath. I don't want to hijack this post as you say.. but just wanted a sec to give you a few positive words and encourage you to keep feeling inspired to create .

There are three dishwashers in my house - there's me, my dear wife (who complains a lot about dirty dishes in the sink), and the one under the cabinet that holds glass lids and our collection of canning jars - everything in that dishwasher is clean before it gets there. We've lived here for 4 years, about, and it's never been turned on. We have been known to mess up more than a few dishes/pots/pans - but clean as you go and you keep up.

As for mowing the "lawn" - I have an 84 year old lawn maintenance man - he's been doing this yard for at least the last 15 or twenty years since he retired from his 'regular' job - I don't let him climb up on the roof any longer to blow the leaves and debris off though. Don't know what I'll do when 'Fred' decides he's had enough. There is a teenager next door - maybe he'll do it - or I'll have to find some commercial outfit - gotten a bit old to mow myself - although about 20 years ago - I mowed the yard at our last digs with a me-propelled push mower.

Thanks Dave, Kevin we have only a quarter acre, if we had much more I think I would be forced to change my ways. Also not as easy as it use to be so perhaps the writing is on the wall, but for now......

Ann, I do not own a TV either, however it's too easy to watch TV shows over the internet, even without any services such as Netflix. I don't own a smart phone either, just an old pre-pay flip phone and that is my only phone, no land line. I did make the mistake of buying a tablet computer, I've hardly touched it, but at least it can be a back up to my home computer. Basically the only tech I use on a regular basis (outside of my job) is the internet and I'm beginning to think I should minimize that. It doesn't really seem to be doing me much favors.
