Yes Bob, better music and it was shorter. lol
@Sydne, yes I am back from my forced vacation, I gotta say I did get far on my new bathroom construction. But peace is not out of the question just because I'm around here, but quiet might be a different story.

Well then your forced vacation worked out for you. Let's try for peace and I won't go get my jaws tight if it's not quiet.(;

The Higgs-Boston particle is hard for me to wrap my mind around, but here is an article that keeps it simple.

Good question Patrick, I could make a guess, all things come back to the starting and end point, 0?

Why in blue-blazes would I NOT call something in which I do not believe, every name in the book?
That's right, you asked for it!
The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.
You're welcome!

Maybe out of respect for other people? Most wouldn't call a person's mother names and for most religious people that is pretty much the same thing.
if you believe we are self-created somehow that is fine, but that also means that, following your logic, we can call everybody names regardless since we are the creator of our own (like our own spontaneous god) and that we, as self-created beings, are far worse than any god you can think of or don't believe in

Oh Patrick, if you have a need to call "Something You Don't Believe names" you need to go see the head doctor, he can explain better why that's such a crazy and futile activity to engage in.

Very Intriguing article,
Two scientists have formalized a theorem regarding the existence of God penned by mathematician Kurt Gödel. But the God angle is somewhat of a red herring -- the real step forward is the example it sets of how computers can make scientific progress simpler.

Yes... that is what computer do best. But of course they have to be programmed to their work, and of course humans are still doing the programming... so.... well the program is only as good as the programmers. That is changing however...

I found it very interesting and also Kurt Gödel who was a close friend of Albert Einstein surprised me.

Because this fits i'm posting this on two threads this one and the movie thread...
i watched 'The Artist and the Model’ a 2012 French language Spanish film about an elderly (90 year old) sculptor in the south of France. iIt takes place in the summer of 1943 a safe distance from the War. He seems to be near the end of his life and of his art. One day, his wife gives shelter to a young Spanish woman, a political refugee. The sculptor soon understands that the girl, who agrees to pose for him, inspires him and that he has no choice but to embark on this last artistic (and sensual) adventure…
It’s kind of a poetic movie about the existence of beauty and meaning in art, and in the life of an artist. One of the film's points may be that there's nothing superficial about the surfaces of things, and that’s especially true with human beings…
There is a scene near the end of the film where they lunch alfresco and he tells the model that there are only two things that confirm the existence of God… and that his paintings and sculptures of women in repose amount to a testament to the "first thing.” He explains himself further by he re-telling the story of Adam and Eve in what sounds like an even more male chauvinist light than the Old Testament version. In his re-imagining, God crafted Eve as his perfect companion and Adam was merely their offspring. The way the sculptor tells it, we see that to him women are the essential creation, men merely utilitarian accessories.
The dialogue from that scene:
i had to transcribe while watching the movies... Whew and lol
Sculptor:
"There are two proofs that God exists, The first and most important, is the woman’s body. Genesis and all that is malarky. can you imagine God creating man? There is no need to make god look like a fool.
First he crafted the heavens.
He created Earth.
He created the oceans, seas and rivers.
He created plants and animals, birds and fish.
all this beauty… paradise.
Then he thought of creating a beautiful Being for himself.
A beautiful creature, a perfect one…
One to charter world with.
A Being to keep him company throughout eternity
unending and probably boring.
Someone to embrace the winter,
and whose skin could be caressed in summer.
He created woman… and called her Eve."
Model:
"And what about Adam?"
Sculptor:
"God and Eve had a son and they called him Adam.
He only forbid them one-thing.
He forbid Adam from sleeping with his mother.
But he caught them in the middle of…
well… he caught them.
That was the Original Sin.
That’s why God abandoned us.
He realized couldn’t count on us
or that we weren’t worthy his trust
And he banished them from Paradise.”
Model:
“That’s why you only do naked women?”
Sculptor:
“Probably…
We menace no more than an accident, accessories…
Women however are the first form…
the essential form.”
A momentary pause…
Model
“So I’m Eve? ( she bites into an apple and youthfully laughs)
Sculptor:
“You understand nothing”
Model:
“And the second proof?”
Sculptor:
Of what?”
Model:
“That God exists”
Sculptor drizzles olive oil on his fingers and licks it.
“Oil, Olive Oil…"

I think the sculptor's response to the model's question - "And the second proof . . . that God exists," should have been, "Chocolate."
I enjoyed this little parable of a scene, as retold by Ed; while it was pure fantasy, there were gallons of truth in it.
Beautiful find, Ed.
