Our Sweet Barn Cat Is Missing :(

The last time we saw our sweet barn cat, Jade, was this past Monday night just before dark. I've checked inside our little barn, sheds, workshop, etc. Can't find her anywhere. She never wanders far and isn't friendly with people she doesn't know. I'm getting worried that she may have been poisoned. :( I sure hope not...and hoping she comes home soon!

My Black Cat Sam is sitting on my lap as I type, I can imagine how you feel

Are there people in the area where you live who place poisoned meat out in an attempt to kill animals that kill their livestock?

Oh I hope not! She looks so sweet. If she is an outdoor cat they can sometimes wander off or go visiting neighbors. Keep her food out she may surprise you.

No, Geordie...we live in a rural part of town, but not out far enough for livestock.

Thanks Val. She's only done this one other time and came back pregnant! But we had her "fixed" after her kittens were weened.

I'm so sorry Diane...but keep the faith. Hopefully she'll return. I have a special love for black kitties and she's a beauty. Please keep us posted and I'll say an extra prayer for her safe return.

She is a dear little thing, what a beautiful face. We live in a rural area and sometimes one of ours disappears but comes back after a few days. I had one disappear for a fortnight (my favourite boy named after chocolate Malteser) and I was heartbroken thinking something had happened to him (we have hunters who put out poison in the woodland for foxes) but he came home hungry eventually, I think he must have got shut in somewhere. Bluebottle also disappears for the odd week at a time, we don't have a clue where she goes or why! So, fingers crossed Jade is just off having an adventure and will return safely.

Such a pretty girl! Hopefully she makes it back soon. She looks like exactly like my black cat who passed away last year at the age of 17.

Good luck, I hope she comes back, she is beautiful. I live in the suburbs, so I had always kept our 2 cats indoors. Both passed about 4 years ago.

Thank you everyone! Still no sign of her. :( I've posted a listing on our local lost and found pets Facebook page and will go check at the shelter today.

It's Springtime. All the birds have returned, the bugs are out & all the little critters are coming out of their Winter nests.
So very enticing after a long boring Winter.

Hope you get to see her back very soon. Best wishes.

Cats sometimes come back. Our cat went missing for a couple of weeks... to make a long story short, someone else thought she was a stray and temporarily adopted her, and was keeping her as an indoor cat. Turns out she didn't get along with the other cats in her new home... so the people who took her in came over to our neighborhood and found the "lost cat" signs we posted. She was fine, and VERY glad to be home.

I found a dead limp cat in my yard on Sunday. I brought it into the house and my husband said it wasn't completely dead. He told me to feed dropper some water into his mouth. On Monday he threw up a lot but he's drank a little more; on Tuesday his appetite came back with a vengeance and now it's Friday. He's come back to life and he's a stinker playing, grooming eating farting, and telling everyone he's the boss. He's got an appointment for a neutering on the 27th and he doesn't leave even though he has a kitty door. He's choosing to stay. I have two other cats who haven't accepted him yet. His new name is Hansy.

I'm sorry about the barn cat, but a new cat always shows up. All my cats are strays.

Lisa that is a great story. It is always mayhem when you introduce a new cat but they sort it out between them in the end.

thank you all so much for your comments and stories. Jade is still missing....I've looked at our local shelters...called neighbors, etc., etc., etc.

I really miss her...she was such a sweet cat. What makes this even more emotional is our golden retriever Comanche passed away in September, and come May 2, it will be the 3 year anniversary of his brother's...Nugget...passing from K-9 Leukemia. So it's a rough time of year. :(

Diane, I am so sorry but please do not give up yet. I've had cats who went missing but came home weeks later. One got stuck in a neighbor's garage just as they left on vacation. Another went missing for a month, and I was sure a coyote got her. Yet there she was on my doorstep one morning. Try to think of where she might have hidden.

Hoping for the best. Don't give up.

Thanks Patricia...haven't given up yet. Sure hope she shows up soon.
