In A Row

Now that a contest has just closed your opinion please

Was it appropriate, acceptable, or just down-right "Smart Assed" for me to submit the following in the "Ducks in a row" contest?

Well, if I have the right contest the rules are "Art in any medium in the spirit of the title! Print, photographs, digital, painting, drawing all welcome."

So therefore what you submitted is acceptable, appropriate, and not smartassey at all! You got ducks, you got them in a row, it's art, it relates. You're good to go. :)

LOL...I see stuff in contests that have nothing to do with the theme...you have ducks and they are trying to get in a row!

I think it is perfect!

You have to KNOW they are not trying to get in a Row, they are definitely NOW in a ROW

Roger,
A lot of people don't consider cartoons to be "art."
I don't happen to fall into that category -- to me cartooning is an art form.
I just wouldn't die of shock if I submitted a cartoon to a contest here on FAA and the administrator didn't consider it to fall within his/her definition of a drawing -- that call can go either way. It's a drawing in the sense of you applied pencil to paper, you drew something, and the subject matter was appropriate. To a lot of people, it would not be a drawing in the sense of being a fine art drawing.

In another thread, some people said they don't consider hand-painted T shirts to qualify as "paintings" -- so... if I submitted a hand-painted T-shirt image to a painting contest, I wouldn't be completely shocked if an administrator booted it out (even if I had not digitally manipulated it beyond recognition).

That's the risk you take with doing art that pushes the boundaries of most people's conventional ideas of what qualifies as art. You can challenge the decision, or you can decide it's no big deal, and move on to the next thing in your life.

Cheryl,

No Worries!.....I'm enjoying the whole thing.

My submission was never deleted......No one voted for it though...Which I certainly expected.

If it was deleted...I might have gotten into a ROW

If you can't enjoy this "Art" thing...WHY BOTHER?

Should have voted for it yourself to garantee at least one vote.

I entered the same competition with my two ducks in a row.

Sell Art Online

They got 1 vote, and I voted, now thats a coincidence.

Perfect as usual, Roger. Just because you think outside the box does not mean that some of us are not there to relieve those ideas! Loved it!

p.s. I am the only one that voted for mine!

Appropriate as you well know. The contest guidelines even said it did not have to be ducks. I know you're just having fun and trying to get your name and image out there and don't really care about the contest, but as you know, it's really hard to get votes from others when you don't vote for your own AND voters are limited to four votes total. There were a reasonable number of entries in this contest, under 200, and often with a contest that size I will look at them and vote for the ones that tickle my fancy for one reason or another. But when the administrator sets it up so I have to pick my one, two, three or even four favorites out of 200 or so, I'm not even going to look at the entries. Might look at the top of the leaderboard, though . . .
