Do you have one subject, object or person that you have depicting multiple times? I have a few, but I think my dad may be my most favorite, I am very close with him so it's only natural that I like to pay tribute to him through my art. When I recently finished my new colored pencil portrait of him I realized that I have depicted him in a lot of different mediums and in different ways. Today is his birthday so I thought it would be fun to create a collage of some of my works with him, in the collage I have depicted him in Pen, Colored Pencil,Oil and Acrylic. He is one of the most interesting people I know, and I already have ideas for doing more. Do you have any subjects like this that you like to display in your artwork a lot?

Thank you Marlene!!!
@Chuck, you can post an example if you'd like to!
@Jim, anything specific in nature? Do you have one season that you favor over the others? Great piece by the way!

Shana - I can take inspiration from any natural subject... landscapes, animals etc. The only season I dislike is winter to some degree.

Shana, tell your dad I said "happy birthday".
Two of my favorite subjects are southwest landscapes and old cars and trucks so this acrylic painting meets both criteria.

Over the years, I've had a lot of favorite subjects....but my raptors stand out as the least loved by others and most loved by me.
I painted over all but two of them. And yes, I cried...but, I needed the canvas.
I still own this one, those she's living in the garage these days. Sometimes, I turn her upsidedown and she looks like a tropical fish.

What???? I love your raptors Marlene! Wild Thang is one of my favorites! Yes sometimes hard decisions and sadness, one has to do what they have to do. Still sad though.

Shana - that is some outstanding work. I love your new self portrait too.
Wishing your father a wonderful birthday, lucky man he is to have a loving daughter such as you.
I seem to have a fondness for bridges, on of them being my favorite Newburgh - Beacon Bridge. I am working my way up & down the Hudson river, will have a gallery of them soon.

Sydne,
I painted them while I was being repped by a very fine gallery system in the Southwest....I think I just painted them 25 years too soon...prints sell very well these days but i couldn't sell an original to save my life!
I have such a love for Feeling Hackled (second row, right)..I may have to pain a redux of her.....

Since the early 70's I have made the Ladies Of Pigalle my only subject. I have created over 400 and I am still creating them.
Your work? Great execution.

Such an interesting array of subjects here!!
@Drew, that' is awesome that your draw so much inspiration from your loved one, I always say that my husband is my muse lol even though I don't paint him half as much as I paint my dad lol
@Sydne, lovely, I think vision is my favorite!!
@Jim, I agree, I love the changing seasons, and draw inspiration from each, though I think winter drags on way longer than it should.

@Janine, thank you!! I truly appreciate that!! I think I have found my new niche in colored pencils and I am really pleased to see where it has been bringing me. Very cool, I can't wait to see more of your bridges. Bridges really do bring something to a composition, and you execute them beautifully.
@Drew, great theme, really takes the viewer to a deeper place and makes on think.
@Fraida, gorgeous work!! Thank you for sharing!!
@Monsieur Danl, thank you. Love your work!!

Hi Shana.....Dad's are so very special. I love my dad. Wonderful portraits of your father, Shana. My favorite subject by far is............. dogs. Every print I sell in my FAA page, a portion of my proceeds will be donated to Animal Rescue. They so very much need our help right now. So many animals and not enough forever homes.

I have quite a few Taughannock Falls pictures, so that would probably be one of my favorite subjects. I think I have enough that there really is no reason to go back but somehow I always wind up there again once in a while. However I would say the fall season itself is more of a favorite subject.

This is a painting I did last year on a vacation return trip to Arizona. It is the beginning of a trail that leads up "Telegraph Pass" on South Mountain (in the background). I use to visit and paint at this site which is a couple of miles from where my wife and I lived for 12 years. In fact painting number two is the same cactus painted about 17 years ago.

Shana R., as others have mentioned, I must agree about the absolutely stunning level of mastery in your drawing.
In total contrast to your precision (where favorite subject matter is concerned), ... my favorite subject would have to be fluid dynamic flow - random, unpredictable, incapable of being captured, except as a momentary static impression of an always moving painting ... painting itself. I won't use up space posting images here, but just click on my profile and visit any of the galleries with the word "fluidism" in it.
The girl can flat ... out ... draw ! Blaine L., are you tuned in here?
