Hacked Accounts

Hello,

I have the feeling, that some accounts were ...kinda hacked due to phishing mails or something like that.

I dont think, that some of the group leaders all post same Spam-Mail by their own. But there is no Button where I can inform the Support because of problems like that....the mails sound dubious, also the subject lines like wonder-pill-sex-check-this-out!-Spammails...

"Some of you already may of heard of this some not but I think it is great and we keep 90% of revenue instead of facebook.
Works just like it and only takes 5 mins to set up. Personally if they are paying me I am off facebook and on this from now on. " + dubious link I wont click

"YOU JUST May Be interested in getting PAID for using a Social Network...

Greetings to ALL... Just Bet this will interest You
Some may of heard of this, BUT Bet the Majority have not.....
We think it is great! We keep 90% of revenue instead of facebook....
It works much like facebook, but everything you do, all the content you add, can mean income...
Works just like Facebook and takes abou 5-10 minutes to set up.
Please check it out, and just sign up, nothing to lose and might even make more
than on FAA by promoting your work here.....
A big Thank You to all who do, See You on Sue :) " + dubious link

I don't think this is a hack. Whoever sent it wants you to join tsu.co. If you join with their referral code they will get paid a certain amount of money. I know various people on FAA have been sending such an email. (Note there is a discussion here just for tsu links). It's not a quick way to get rich. I believe I'm up to about $2.26, but I am not actively seeking people to join under me.

The message you quoted was from a member who administers a number of FAA groups.

Edward Fielding

It's from a member who runs a lot of groups. Probably looks like a hack because you got multiple copies.

I dont want to explain satirical posts. I can't believe, people are so .... to believe this ..... and doing all the work (spamming! yeah its spam. and faa does not like spam I guess) for some cents. In this time they could be creative and earn much more money. I want a spam-button. Sry guys.

No the one I got was not from anyone named Bob.

Hello Greg,

I thought about it, why I didnt post names of the spammers: I dont want to become this thread a pillory. I just want to critizise this spam-problem.

Group leaders always have the opportunity to abuse their position (by that, I mean the use of group emails to promote their own interests). I've had group emails begging for votes in competitions that had nothing to do with the group in question! Thankfully, most group leaders do a good job, but when it does happen, there's no point getting annoyed about it - just delete the email, or, if it gets really bad, block the sender.

I received multiple messages re this topic from more than one group administrator. I found it as annoying as the group administrators who also emailed me looking for a vote in that national tv contest...while reminding me of all those group features I had received in the past...

Yeah, I will forward this on to Abbie and Frank....

Sandra -- thanks for the thread. Yeah, what some here say, this is spam but from a member soliciting own interest and this is not allowed. My inbox this morning I found a number of complaints from members, and a few from yesterday. Noted ... thanks JC.

And Frank, faster than a speeding bullet or my ability to even forward it to him to save the day....

Thanks

i think those that abuse this should simply be taken out as a forum leader. more than once i've had mail at least from this couple, that mentioned favors for them so they can get a feature or something like that.

Yes...There seems to be two separate group leaders that foster the most abuse. I just delete them, but they are annoying.

If you've ever tried running a group, you know it takes a lot of work. It's easy enough just to delete the emails. I tend to give the group leaders a bit of lee way.

i can see where there is a lot of work. but i also see some people running 30 groups at once, and thinking that people owe them something. so when i see things like - i want money join my TSU account. or i will let you into my group if you favorite my work or something like that... its still abuse. its not like they have to run the group, and its not like they are the only ones that have a group.

Considering Frank J Casella's hard work and efforts as the Groups Moderator - I think it is time for his Superman costume.
It would look befitting next to JC in the forums.

"but i also see some people running 30 groups at once, and thinking that people owe them something."

yeah, thats what happened to me yesterday. i critizised it yesterday, and the answer was summarized "mimimi i do sooo much for my thousand groups from morning to evening, even when i am asleep, all the members sell more then me and this is just because of my work as group leader mimimi i am the holy god of whatever and bring money to the artist and renounce my own sellings....mimimi."

i stopped discussing at this point.

I class this as spam and, if anyone is caught doing it again, they are in danger of losing their group privileges. This is an abuse of administration emails which are for group business only

If group admin need to send this kind of message they have group discussions JUST for this purpose

I just recently quit a group due to the "requests" contained in messages to view and like their images as sort of a "thank you" for them doing what they do for the group members.

Although Tsu is legit I found it very annoying to receive this messages because those of us who follow the rules post our invitation links only in this Tsu-Thread: http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2177195

The admin got several signups with this move, I hope he will at least support his new 'Children' on Tsu.

Thanks for looking into it Abbie!

Group Administrators who take advantage of being able to email many members at once for a personal gain stinks.
They should have their Admin rights taken away.
