Will Spring Ever Come?

The forecast here in NH says to expect 1 - 3 more inches of snow overnight! Meanwhile the snow drifts have melted back a bit, I can see some tulip sprouts poking up out of the ground and the birds are returning but they have a puzzled look on their faces as they search around for some ground. Anyone else ready for spring?

At least the ski resorts are enjoying an extended season.

Here in Boston it's supposedly going to be in the 50s and 60s starting on Friday, including 66 for the Sox home opener. Can't wait - it's been a painful winter!

I'll be in Boston in a few weeks. Hopefully by then the street sweepers will have a chance to clean things up. I was walking around Boston in March and everything was such a mess.

Does the snowfall usually continue this long in your area, Edward?

Currently 74 degrees here, breezy, a couple of windows open, and ceiling fan going. We're in the usual Spring thunderstorm syndrome currently, as we've had rain off and on for the past few days. High today is forecast to be 79.

i don't think it will. everything is budding, but few flowers are out. we had a tease of 60f, but it's 40 or so right now. maybe the summer will be cooler with less storms? i just hope the garden will be warm enough to plant stuff in may.

when it gets warmer, spring cleaning starts for many. and maybe redecorating?

Good point about Spring re-decorating for folks. We can only hope. :)

We've had a mild spring here so far. Usually we would already have a few sweltering days, but it got back down to the mid 30s the other night... and I loved it! Mild winter, mild spring, I'd give anything for a mild summer, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I was starting to worry that spring would be skipped altogether. It's been summer temps here in the southwest. Looks like today will be cooler, only in the low 70's.

currently 44 degrees, going down to a low of 33 tonight.

The UCONN women won all too easily last night. Boring game. really bad.

You're welcome to come by my house and brush that yellow oak tree crap off the cars. If you do, make it every hour. It comes down that fast. A black car completely covered with yellow pollen signals spring is here on this end.

Edit: can you clean it out of the gutters, too? Thanks !

We are in spring on the Gulf Coast already! Hate to rub it in but, my roses and iris's are beginning to bloom. I hope that the snow ends soon for you guys and spring arrives quickly.

You knew us Florida folks would have to chime in. lol It's going to hit 90 tomorrow. I already miss spring, because I think it's over!

Edward Fielding

Greg - the lady at the post office said its normal winter like in the old days and I suppose I do recall early spring snows but the consistent cold temps was unusual. Usually we get a January thaw period which didn't happen this year. Plus the shear amount of snow.

The huge snow amounts are probably due to the warming ocean temps - more moisture in the air.

I know my parents used to head north from Florida at the end of April as it got too hot but they usually froze for the first month back.

Right now we have freezing rain, had a couple centimetres of snow on Saturday and my tulips and crocuses are coming up! Spring and warm weather need to get going as it is depressing, couple nice days and then cold and I bought all new deck furniture and set it up so nicely last week, not so inviting with snow or ice on it!

Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall, doesn't vary much around here. It always beautiful in Maui.

At least the snow is off the deck and the BBQ has been tuned up and used twice in 2015. Still have a ice chunk on the roof. I guess I should be happy knowing I won't have any grass to mow for a long time.

I'll be sure to crow about the nice cool mountain breezes when August comes. ;-)

Edward that is such a pretty video...nothing better than a red barn is the snow...except NOT in April! I took off the next ten days to finish m big cleaning project I started a month or so ago...thought the weather would be good by now. Guess I was wrong! I wanted to open all the windows and start painting (the walls) too cold...not even sunny.

Lobster boats are itching to get into the water here in Cheticamp, NS, but the harbour still has 20-26 inches of ice with lots of pack ice still in the area.
Work has begun on the boats in preparation, the coming week is showing an increase of temps...with highs of above freezing 8c/46f.

A few restaurants are gearing up for the coming tourist season, another photographer and I are setting up our first gallery here in town for a mid-May launch.

And I sure wouldn't mind seeing open water once again and getting out without the boots and parka.

Michel - I have to get over there some day. We usually went above you from Bar Harbor to Prince Edward Island. The tourists have an uncanny ability of showing up as soon as the weather turns nice.
...

Yup, three inches of fresh snow on everything. Just enough to cover the tulip spouts I had noticed yesterday.

Don't get me wrong, I like the change of seasons. If this was early October I'd be excited and out shooting.

Any excuse to spam a few 'for sale' images.

Yes, spring is here (in Europe - some parts of).

Drove through Limousin a few days ago (that's in France) and saw baby lambs without hair on their body, and calves licked free of blood by their mothers.

Now in Hungary, the buds on trees are about two weeks ahead of Aquitaine. No lambs or calves though.

Green shoots vs wobbly knees; Spring is here....

No pics to pimp.

I envy those that have sprung their spring. In Quebec, Canada we have just recorded the coldest winter here since they've been recording it. We usually have some thaw in February and then in March, but not this year. We are expecting rain tonight so that should help thaw some of the snow.

Nothing much to do about it though :-P

We had a spring-like winter (and no rain for our drought stricken lands) ...we are just continuing on in the 60s and 70s. The drought is in its 4th year and mandatory water restriction measures are coming to the cities now..just awaiting to hear what they are going to do in my apt building. We've already got low-flow everything installed (Seinfeld - "low flow? I don't like the sound of that!") But it is cool, mid 60s here and sunny...cannot complain :)

Here in Melbourne, Australia, it's a beautiful, cool, sunny Autumn morning (8.20am) and I'm about to visit my favorite lemurs at the zoo. At the moment I can hear the rainbow lorikeets chirping as they check out the flowering eucalypts in the park over the road.

Saw on the news - You guys in Atlanta and that region have 15 degrees above normal. In the 30s here but I'm heading to FL tomorrow night.
