Changing Name

I have a question. When I joined I put my laat name here but I was thinking of changing it here.
I did a seach on myself and I pulled up on here but all my info old and new blogs I forgot I had from like a decade ago. It also pulled up past addressed and info. My question is do you want your customers to know you and everything about you or do you want a name that just lets them know your art.? Just wanted alittle feedback before I make any changes here. Im an open book but how open do you wanna be when people search you or your art.?

Unless you have a bunch of incriminating or embarrassing things attached to your name that you don't want buyers to see, you might as well just use your real name, as long as it is an easy name to spell / remember. My last name (Benamati) isn't super easy to remember or spell, and most people who say it say pronounce it wrong. So, my wife and I made up a name for our art. However, we have our names in our Bio, because I think it makes sense to say who you are (any shop owner, for example, would do this). If you keep your name hidden and just sell behind an avatar / screen name, you aren't encouraging a personal relationship with your customers. Some people might also be wary of buying from an artist who hides their identity.

In your case, most people should be able to spell your name just fine. You also don't have an unfortunate name for selling art (there are some cases when a person might not want to use their name because of bad connotations. For example: Brown Fine Art).

Great job Jennifer - you rank higher in Google than your Florida Republican namesake. Keep it that way!

I was an established artist when I got divorced.
I didn't drop the surname Burns for obvious reasons.
The not so obvious reasons... my maiden name was very long, hard to spell and at the end f the alphabet with many syllables.
BURNS is perfect. My former mother-in-law made it up so it carries no weird former family garbage for me.
If I should change my name in the future, I will not change my professional name.

Bear in mind that image URLs are based on your name and image title. If you change either one any links out there in cyberspace wil no longer work.

With just 11 images and 100=/- views, this would be the time to change your name. As James mentioned, when you change your name, it will kill all the links you may have out there already leading to your FAA page. But I'm guessing there aren't that many links out there yet. I get where your current last name might be hard for folks to spell or pronounce, but when you decide to change it, stick with that decision. I kinda wish I could change my name. In hindsight, the "Photography" is a little pointless as one can tell I'm a photographer with a quick glance at my work.
