Trademarks: Better To Ask Permission Than Forgiveness?

I thought this was kinda cool for a few reasons, the first being the Burger-King wedding and the second being that Burger King is actually going to pay for it. Here's the story --

As I read it, I thought it was interesting that the couple asked Burger King if they could use the trademarked logo in their wedding "favors." That's when Burger King said they'd pay for the wedding. So at least in this case, it was better to ask permission first rather than forgiveness later.

I wonder who is going to cater the wedding though.

For many years, I volunteered for the Make A Wish Foundation. This organization helps grant wishes of children with incurable diseases.
On one very memorable occasion, I was asked to do a Ninja Turtle themed mural for a little boy's bedroom. I explained to the local group about trademarks and they followed the rules and asked permission....That precious child got a whole room filled with everything Ninja Turtle imaginable, a bed, lamps, bedspread, sheets, pillow, suffed animals...and I was lucky enough to see his face when he first set his eyes on his new bedroom.
There are lots of generous and kind people still around.....

i can't imagine the wedding being that pricey if burgerking was the theme. good advertising for them i guess.
