Top Keywords

Edited from original post...

Original post: "Just curious...are there certain keywords that you believe are absolutely necessary to drive sales?"

What I mean is: (and this may not be worded right either) how do you choose keywords? I have a really hard time (like writer's block) when it comes to choosing keywords

there is no such thing as a keyword that will force someone to buy something and if there was - no one would share that.

have words that relate to your image. that's it. but then don't rely on the keyword, you have to advertise AND have work that people want in their house.

the question is - is there a keyword that would make you buy something?

there should be more words about this chicken head. your location spelled different ways, won't encourage sales. naming the bird, that it has feathers, its a head shot, the anatomy of it, the latin name for it the genus, that it might go to a poultry farmer etc - that is the stuff you want.

you can use a thesaurus, wiki, there are only a certain number of chicken models, just punch in the colors and chicken.

The big thing that drives the search are sales. If there were "hot" key words, everyone would be using them including the big sellers. So they would still come up first in the search rankings.

I believe that advertising outside of FAA with links back to your own AW will trump the best key wording inside the FAA search. I am not saying forget them key words, I am saying do the best you can as it pertains to your specific images, then worry more about advertising outside of FAA and let the FAA search take care of it self.

The best keywords or phrases, are the ones that pertain to your image that people may be using to search Google with links to your AW were YOU and only YOU come up in the internal search on your AW.

I see titles like, Red Rose. I use Santa Barbara Mission Red Rose. Santa Barbara Botanical Garden (which is located at the Mission).

We know the top keywords used by contributors are "landscape" and "nature" I believe. But we don't have access to what buyers use the most in search.

The catchiest words in sales are "free" and "sex". The two together are priceless.

Rich Franco

Folks,

My use of "better than Peter Lik" seemed to wear out, so the new one might be " better than Mike Savad, and others selling more than me!"! Free and sex doesn't seem to fit!

And finally tonight, "top selling photographer on FAA!" has a nice ring!

Create content around your work. Search engines look for value for their users. They want to see work within context. This is why creating good blog posts are more important than social media.

Social media pops an image in front of a face for a few seconds. A good blog post brings up your artwork when someone is searching for art.

DesignerPrints.com a place to heavily discount your work without you being able to control what is sold, and for how much off.
