I've had the Facebook shopping cart for years so why the newsletter?

Carol C

Jessica, I don't know. The newsletter says it's a new feature.

"Pixels.com is pleased to announce the release of our new Facebook app! With a few simple clicks, you can add a full-featured Pixels.com shopping cart directly to your fan page. Your Facebook friends and fans can then browse through all of your images and purchase them as framed prints, canvas prints, phone cases, and more... without ever leaving Facebook!"

Jessica, please tell me.
I do NOT want every single upload I do to go to my Fanpage and I especially do not want that for my personal page. I just enabled but now I'm scared to upload. Please advise :)

David Gordon

It seems to me that if you already have the old cart installed (like me) on your FB page, you don't need to do anything. Mine seems to have been automatically upgraded to the new one with all the products, etc.

Dave, that's great if your old cart automatically upgraded!

Melinda Baugh

My cart updated automatically. It used to go to my Fine Art page when I would click on a photo. Now it stays in my Facebook instead of going to the external link.

Terrific, Melinda!

OOPS... SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHTThe Facebook Personal Application no longer has permission to access your Facebook account. Please re-enable it, below.

How do I fix this error

Nikolyn McDonald

And I just got an unwanted (or at least un-asked-for) upload announcement to my Fanpage - of an image I uploaded in June of 2013 but just submitted to a group. I got a group feature on it and noted that in my description by editing. Someone commented on the image and I thanked them. That's it for recent activity. Why on earth would this post to my FB fanpage saying I "added new artwork to FAA"?
Get me out of here, please. I really, really want to control what goes to my pages.

Jessica Jenney

What did you enable, Nikki? The shopping cart has nothing to do with uploads to your page. It's a separate area.

"Each time you add a new image to Fine Art America, we'll automatically post an announcement for you on your Facebook fan page wall.

But wait... there's more! You can also add an e-commerce Fine Art America shopping cart directly to your fan page. Your Facebook friends and fans can browse through all of your Fine Art America artwork without ever leaving Facebook!

You want the shopping cart, not the announcement.

Nikolyn did you opt in for automatic posting of your images to fb? If you did then if you don't check "no" when editing it will repost. (same with twitter

Nikolyn McDonald

I obviously enabled the wrong thing. I just tried to follow the links on the shopping cart thingy that came today. I'll go behind the scenes and see what I can disable. Thanks. But I still do not understand why I should get this upload announcement on something I did not upload today.

David Lane

It's different now. I have had it for years also.

That's what I tried to follow, Jessica.
It took me to Facebook Applications. I had to enable FB for personal accounts
Then FB for Fan Pages - Nikolyn McDonald Photography - on

That's all.

Looks pretty good. Hope it helps to generate some sales.

Jessica Jenney

I think you can turn it off for recent uploads and just have the cart How is is different now David?

Nikolyn McDonald

Ok after turning it on, I turned it off again. Cart is still there so I think I'm good to go. Very confusing. Thanks, Jessica.

I am being told that I don't have a Fan Page....actually I have several...but FAA says I don't....Abbie...help? How do I make FAA recognize my Fan Page?

Richard Rizzo

my fan page "shop" button always worked linking to my artist website but the auto posting from FAA to the fan page hasn't worked in years.
when I open my control panel it tells me I don't even have a fan page and shows my personal FB address in its spot with no way of deleting it.
So I guess I'm out of this new system altogether unless support can help me out.

If the app says you have no pages....................

Please log into FAA and disable both FAA apps

Then, remove the app from your Facebook Pages

FACEBOOK PROFILE

Go to your main homepage and see APPS on the left menu.
Delete the FINE ART AMERICA APP

FACEBOOK PAGE

On your FACEBOOK page, go to EDIT PAGE
On the edit page see the tab for APPS
Delete the FINE ART AMERICA APP

YOUR SITE HERE

Then, Make sure you are logged into Facebook as you, not as your page, and come back to your BEHIND THE SCENES | Facebook Application and enable the application again, Middle one (FB personal profile) and then the right one (FB page) If it does not popup, use a different browser and make sure your popup blocker is not enabled, or any ad blockers

The profile side must be enabled as well as the page but, you may turn off postings to that page in your default settings, once the application is all working

"OOPS... SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHTThe Facebook Personal Application no longer has permission to access your Facebook account. Please re-enable it, below."

I'm getting that too. But when I click Enable I get this:

"App Not Setup: The developers of this app have not set up this app properly for Facebook Login."

Abbie Shores

We only have the FAA application set up at present (works for pixels too) so you need to log into your Fineartamerica side of things and enable there http://fineartamerica.com. It will then post images from pixels or the premium to your status if uploading on that site. However please note that the shop is linked to fineartamerica

I am guessing none of you had the same problem as me???
I've had five people tell me they can't view my shop from their mobile devices. Anyone at all face this issue? I can see it just fine from my Mac….. https://www.facebook.com/ColorfulKristi/app_309028460694
But that doesn't help when anyone will be looking from mobile phones, iPads, etc.
Can anyone help me?

Priya Ghose

I can view it fine from my android phone

Arya Zale

Thank you for checking, Priya… Maybe it works okay with Androids, but not with iPads/iphones. At least four of the five people who have reported trouble to me have those…. hmmmmm…….

Loree Johnson

I just looked from my tablet and my android phone. I think the problem is the facebook 'app' doesn't show the tabs. You have to use the browser on your mobile device. A facebook issue, not an FAA issue.

Arya Zale

Thank you ever so much, Loree! I think you've probably nailed it! I let my friends know what you said, and hopefully it will work- at least for now.
Cheers!

David Lambert

I am so disappointed in the way this was done.... first of all, I'm disappointed that I needed to allow access to my personal page in order to allow access to my photography page.

Next, after I enabled access to this app, it goes and posts on my timeline without my approval. Big no-no. I'll tell you when I want you to post for me -- if you're going to give people the ability to post automatically, you'd better make it possible for me to turn that off, or indicate which events you're going to publish or something -- DO NOT just post stuff for me w/o my approval. The mere fact that I've **got** a FB page just for my photography is a pretty good indication that I'm trying to keep these things separate.

So, the only option I've got to manage the personal connection is to disable it, which then removes the FB page app. Fine. If that's the way it's going to be, then no FB app at all. Not cool.

Tgchan

@ David Lambert

Disable it on your personal page, it will still work on your other page. I have even deleted it on facebook in apps and it still works lol

I have no clue how to do this...sigh...

Loree Johnson

You can also allow it to post and set the privacy so "only you" can see the posts.

Jessica Jenney

David, after you've enabled it you can go to default setting and uncheck the Facebook boxes behind the scenes. Nothing is being posted on my Facebook profile or page

How to do what, Rose? Do you have a Facebook page? It's really very simple to do.

Abbie Shores

Fr those asking why the newsletter and saying it's just the same....................

What's new?
1. The app now includes our entire product line, including: canvas prints, framed prints, metal prints, acrylic prints, greeting cards, phone cases, throw pillows, and duvet covers!
2. The app works in multiple currencies, including: US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, Australian Dollars, and Japanese Yen.
3. The app's search engine allows buyers to search through your images based on keywords, titles, colors, sizes, orientation, galleries, and more!
4. The app is 100% "reponsive" and will display perfectly on iPhones, Android phones, tablets, and more!
5. The entire checkout process occurs within the Facebook environment. The buyer never leaves Facebook at any time.

Got this message. The Facebook Personal Application no longer has permission to access your Facebook account. Please re-enable it, below. When I clicked to enable it, a small window popped up for about 2 seconds and disappeared. That was about it and no enabling. A browser issue?

David Lambert

Ok - trying this again. The "post privately to my wall" option let me re-enable the FB app on my page, and that seems to be working fine. Thanks for the help.

Andy, could be or it's already on the page so needs removing first. Follow my directions in a previous blue post

Ginny Youngblood

I have tried the above mentioned steps to remove the FAA app on my personal facebook page. But when I attempt to "Add Page Tab" it still does not show my fan site. It shows a different one that is not my art fan site.

I have popup blockers turned off, turned off adblock, and have tried it on Chrome, Firefox and IE.

A Shopping Cart link does appear on the Social Media Applications page on FAA. But the link just takes me to a white page with numbers.

Any other steps to possibly try?

Abbie Shores

Ginny

Double check the profile you are linking is the one that is the admin of the page you want the cart on

Ginny Youngblood

I was the admin. But in the midst of checking that, I got it figured out. yay!
thank you!

Can you have multiple FAA accounts tied into one Facebook Page / Account?

Heather Applegate

We've told you - no you can't. By the way, you can find your other threads under the "Watched" tab if you lose track of them.
