Two Out Of Four ...
The past couple of weeks I've had four people with special requests e-mail me via FAA. Two of those requests have resulted in sales.
The first person wanted a larger image printed than my image would allow. Could I make it bigger? The image was a photomontage comprised of lots of individual photos, and yup, I was able to "re-build" the image so that it was larger and looked almost identical. The customer was very happy and even sent me a photo of how it looked hanging over her couch.
The second person wanted me to change the aspect ratio of one of my images to fit a 30" x 20" frame she already had. Would *I* print it and how much would I charge to ship it to Canada? She insisted I print and ship even though I told her three times I did NOT do that. No sale.
Then someone wanted one of my pictures for a duvet cover. Could my rectangular picture be turned into a square and then made bigger (5000px x 5000px) for a duvet cover? Again, since this picture was also a photomontage, I lucked out and was able to do it. He purchased it and I made money.
Then finally I'm currently corresponding with someone in China who has selected 6-10 of my images "to be used in a restaurant," and that it would be "great publicity" for me. Am I interested? Of course. Just look at FAA and select the size and format you want for the restaurant. But oh, no. He wants my JPEGs. Could I or FAA send them to him?
I saiid no, that I was happy he liked my work, and wished him well in his restaurant venture. I've not heard back.
Four "out of the ordinary" requests via FAA in two weeks. Yes, it took me a bit of time, but I'm pleased to have made two solid sales. Batting .500 ain't so bad!
