I had a heart attack and got 4 stents. Now I must take a drug called Effient, or the arteries will grow over and around the stents, which will get blocked, and the I would die.
I graduated from high school in 1969, and had a couple of occasions to try pot. I need my few firing synapses too much to risk them on drugs of unknown origin and content.

I live in Colorado, and marijuana is -- well, we voted to legalize it but it's not quite that simple, as it turns out.
I don't do drugs. Doing drugs seems like a very bad idea on a number of levels, including that spending money on drugs would tend to reduce the amount of money I have available to spend on art supplies.

To me if someone has to do drugs to be creative then its really not a god given talent. Kinda like breast implants....some people are just naturally creative and no drugs are needed.

I've heard of getting the munchies but I didn't realize the drive to draw was a side effect.
Maybe this is a good business opportunity. Open an art supply shop right next to the local dispensary.
....
On second thought some kind of drug seems to increase the drive to use Free DAZ.

I loved waking up in India and having a cup of coffee, a joint and roaming around the streets taking photos. I think drugs enhance ones creativity.

I assume you mean recreational drugs and not perscription drugs.
I tried pot a couple of times back in the early 70's but found a few beers had more effect and that was legal, so never tried it again.
I know a few people who smoke and they say that todays stuff is many times more powerful.
You only have to look at regular heavy users to know that it doesn't do you much good in the long run.
I don''t think it can help you draw, technically speaking, but it probably helps the imagination and flow of ideas. But then so do other forms of stimulii.
If it's anything like alcohol, then too much is a positive hinderance to production and creativity.

Detox your system with Raw plant-based diet. In time, your creativity will come back. But it will take time to recover your brain.
I highly recommend growing your own sprouts.
Lots of documentaries on Netflix. Like "Food Matters", "Food, Inc", "Forks Over Knives", "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead", Etc...

You can be creative with or without "drugs" I am sure, Blaine!
A drug is any "substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body."
Caffeine is a pretty good stimulant if you need it :D
Those who "don't do drugs" are kidding themselves...
Blaine,
Just draw anyway.
If you can be creative when you're on drugs, you can be creative when you're not. The creativity is still in there, you just need to stop thinking of drugs as the only way to let it get out.

Richard,
The human body produces drugs on its own. So of course were all are on some sort of drugs by default. Yes, caffeine & sugar are drugs, but everyone knows what people mean by drugs. Pot heads love to say weed is not a drug.
When I say I am sober that means I don't drink caffeine, alcohol, weed, pills, etc.

Isabella,
Rule 6?
Edit: I think I found it thanks to Google.

6. The forum is aimed at a general audience. Pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, and swearing are not allowed. Illegal content will also lead to a ban. Users may not post images that require a safe filter to the open forum.

Here's the question: Were you smoking it in the house you're raising your son in?
Another thought: Why do most of your threads seem to ask for others their thoughts/opinions that turn into verbal fiascos? Just wondering. :)
Edit: I barely avoided breaking Rule #6
TC the rules are clearly labelled at the top of the main discussions page
I am glad you found them, albeit a roundabout way

Lots of musicians put out their best work when they are in the highs and depths of substance abuse maybe it is true with artists as well.
L Cecka, I am with you pretty much with you. But can you maybe supply a few example pictures of the analogy.... without violating Rule 6 of course! :-)

Andy...
That's why I use acrylics instead of oils. Not into stinky stuff in my art supplies.
Seriously, don't breathe your art supplies. They can kill you.

Actually Blaine, if it is the pot that is inspiring you to draw the images you do. I think looking at the images would suggest that you maybe need to stay off the weed, imho.

Being around kids is another good reason to not be stoned. Kids aren't so stupid they don't notice.

Four reasons I don't smoke pot, first I get heart pallipatations, second Every cold I ever get goes right to my lungs, any type of smoke is not my friend. Third, I get nothing done and I am somewhat driven. Lastly I work in a very conservative job, since it is still not entirely legal in California, this would be a big issue. Questions, does it relax you? Can you get anything done? Can you handle it with whatever responsibilities you have? Can you afford it? Personal choice, go for it.

Angela, you realize you are both criticizing and judging people with your post, right?
I always find that so ironic.

Being positive doesn't mean you live in Candyland. Positive people have real problems.
They get angry. They challenge people and fight hard for what they believe in.
Positivity is not about wearing rose-colored glasses and rolling over when the going gets tough. It's about being self-aware and accountable for your emotional state.

Marlene Burns:
I made the mistake of watching this thread when I first posted, (email notices) and I came back because I was attacked for no good reason.
I do not like people putting down others, slamming their art or creativity, and just for the record, I was not really condoning
marijuana, because everyone is different, I was defending what I thought was wrong, because others were degrading Blaine's actual art work, so wrong.
I believe people who find it necessary to make rude and self righteous comments such as those I quoted, do not do anyone any good.
If someone's intention is to help someone, demeaning their work, and generally trying to convince them they are screwed up, or any number of tags some of the people here put on others in this convo, is downright simply not beneficial, or constructive to anyone. It seems to me it makes some folk feel they are better than others to do this, and I was simply defending the underdog, (Blaine) in this case, mostly because I felt he had been attacked by some, not helped. Just like the following comment is negative, and obviously meant to demean me, or make Dave appear as if he is better than myself. Dave, my 4009 FB connections, and the other 10,000 here in the city I live in that I support, and help get working gigs for, would disagree, but bottom line is, I simply do not care what you think of me, because I would not want to know you either!

Greg,
The rock hall of fame will say anything for a buck.
The show must go on.
Do we really need a rock and roll hall of fame? Would the world
be a better place without them?

Greg,
You are welcome, it is only rock and roll, but I like it.
In that catch phrase rock gets dismissed. Ever ask your self why
dismiss rock and roll?
You will be very enlightened if you do.

Blaine, with all that said. Only critical comment from me is that you need "I" surgery.
