Need Some Id Help For This Bloom

I took this photo this week and have no idea what type of tree it is. It was about 10' tall, rather thin, and the buds had not opened. These blooms were a little past prime. The tree was part of a lower canopy as it was in a deeply forested area. Any help would be appreciated. (The color version won't be of any help, as the petals are white with no other colors except the brown stems in the middle).
