Contests

Can someone tell me if the contests are on the up and up. Reason I'm asking is because a guy e- mailed me and asked me if I would vote for his photo. Of course that's not how I do things. I vote for the photo of my liking.

People are not allowed to do that, it is classed as spam.

Please message me the name of the member and the contest :)

The've newer been on the up and up. Take them and the results with a pinch of salt.

The contest are normally just popularity contest. Just another way to get your work out there.

Not sure what you mean by "up and up." They are what they are. Have fun with them if you choose to enter them. But don't expect much in the way or riches and fame.

The contests are for fun. That is it. Have fun with them

You still cannot ask for votes by messaging or emailing people like this

The trend of begging for votes by posting group discussions has started up again, and I'm going to have to leave those groups. How can it be a fair contest if you are not voting on the merits? Yes, I know, I know. It's just for fun. But I do dislike having my group discussion feed cluttered with so many solicitations, which are not discussions. Sigh.

they are for fun only, and begging for votes usually no one wants. email abbie with the name to sort them out. its kind of pathetic to see people begging for votes when they get no prize at all, and it doesn't help them to sell (the entering helps, not the win). yet they make facebook clubs and beg everywhere to get the votes up.

and then the same person wins all 3 spots with a landslide (all the same ip's)

How sad that people ask for votes on their own work. Sader still, those who vote on their own images to begin with.

If groups only allow one vote per person and everyone votes on their own pics then I guess they need to beg for a vote from someone else, to break the deadlock.

I messaged my group members and asked them to vote, not for their own photographs but all those they wished they took; to spread some love and let the cream rise to the top.

And I would not dream of entering my own contest either. There's just too much good competition.
