Tipi Art

Just completed a series of impressions of *tipis... from the first I saw being hoisted at a First Nations Gathering, to being a guest at a national arts conference in 2007, and privileged to sit in the circle inside a giant tipi -- I enjoy sharing my fascination with these amazing structures. Tipis featured in your art? Please share...

Beautiful...

My friend involved with building the giant shared his images of him towing the logs for the poles across the lake. They wound up prepping the canvas (too big for skins, at least in this instance) by laying it out on the arena floor.

Here they are stripped & hoisted.

Arriving to find the giant tipi complete was magical, also...and of course listening to all the stories about it all coming together. My first night there we visited in the circle long into the night...daylight prevailed till well after 10 pm...we were quite far north.
