Fun With Voting

I entered The North Carolina Blogger Network Photo Contest, sponsored by the The Mast Farm Inn, with the artistic & technical support of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina association. I thought it would be fun and I have some good NC photos.

The top vote getter wins a prize (unimportant what it is). So I asked my friends to vote.

Then I discovered the image in 1st place (not even very good) had over 4,500 votes!

So I did some investigating. Seems all one has to do to vote multiple times is to clear their cache and add a different email address for each vote. That is easy. I can vote 2-3 times a minute that way. I told them about it, but nothing changed. So today I voted for my own pic 200+ times just to make a point. vote212@yahoo.com and then vote 213@yahoo.com etc. ad infinitum. If I could program, it probably would not be hard to vote continuously until I had thousands of votes.

But I quit, of course. No prize is worth that to me. It is sad. The leader has 4585 votes, the next 3 are 1511, 1390, and 1366. I am in 5th place with 422. Looks like only a few figured it out and I am guessing the leader has software voting for him.

Glad we don't have that issue here. :)

I think it is sad too. Whenever I enter a contest and get some votes I am always so thrilled because someone actually liked my work enough to vote for it. To win that way would never give me any good feeling about myself or my work.
