how do artist get their realistic look in inside their products ?

i don't get your question. many images here are photos. if your going for a real look you have have to follow the rules of perspective, shadow and highlights. its hard to get it right.

That polishing comes with years of practice. Just as anything else, the more you practice, the better you get.

it really depends on what your looking at, and make sure they aren't actually photos of objects.

details come in when you pay attention to the texture something has. glossiness, how it refracts, the shapes and contours. you have to practice and observe. you can use textures and just shade over them and make a rubbing if you need to. observe the item carefully and then practice - a lot.

in art school I was taught in order to paint realism paintings one needs to start with painting/drawing in black and white to learn about tones and values Once you master it and able to produce works resemble black and white photo then you can move on using colors.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking but there is a book called... Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain... probably around $20...that you might find of interest.
