Photo Prints On Watercolor Paper?

Hey all,
I'd be curious to hear from those of you who have printed photography on watercolor paper. I was at a showing yesterday for R J Kern's {Geo}Graphical Animal Portraits. They were so wonderful! One thing I especially loved was the presentation. He had printed many of them on watercolor paper and they were raised off the background of the matting by about 1/4". This accentuated the natural ragged edge of the watercolor paper, which I thought was very appealing.

So, the question: Does FAA's watercolor paper leave the natural ragged edge of the paper? Or is it cut down, leaving a clean sharp edge?

It is a clean sharp edge on the watercolor paper. I have had several made for a local frame shop that sells my work ... when printed on the watercolor it seems the art blows out the door and they can't keep my art on their walls!

I think you can do that with Giclee printer

I paint watercolor and the Watercolor paper come with different weight and texture, in general there are hot press, cold press and rough which offer different texture and there are many brands which slightly different from others.
it is important to find out what brand and type of watercolor paper used.

In order to make numbered copy of my original work, I would use Giclée printer on hot press paper. What do you think Al? you know more about this then I do I am sure

Alex,

I think you are seeing either "handmade"paper that has been printed by an Epson printer or taking the paper and tearing the edges, but my guess is the first,

Hyoye, for the Giclée printing: a well known local printer here always uses Arches cold press for artists/galleries because it has a medium texture compare to hot press and rough.( hot press is the smoothest of the three and rough has the most texture.)

Hey all,
Thanks so much for the responses! I was really hoping they would come with the rough edges, but I'm still happy to hear (from Frank) that people are loving the quality! I may have to check around locally to see if I can find some other options around here.

Hey Al, Thank you for your information. I always thought that the smoothest is the hot press paper.

Hyoye, I meant hot press is the smoothest, it was a typo, I will change it.
