Sales

We are still looking for our first sale. Does anyone want to share their experience as to how long it took for your first sale.

look up that exact phrase - first sale - in the search. it's asked every other day.

Shouldn't questions that get asked every other day be in a Frequently Asked Questions thread; without some of the more mundane frequently given answers.

Good luck. I've made 4 sales in 4 years... two to family. We have to do our own marketing. I think to make a decent income one must come up with something useful - an info-rich piece of art ... such as an interestingly done map of sorts... (judging by what I've seen repeatedly sold here).

welcome david and lynn whats more important is your ability to create and market your original unique artwork, based on your gallery add more keywords & descriptions of your artwork so that search engines can find you ...market the easter collection, the prices appear off ....join some groups and maybe a contest .took me over a year to make my 1st sale no skills with marketing or writing :) .the world is full of unique creative artists all after the same buyers .

There is no guarantee. Results may vary.

Everything depends on having something a buyer wants and promoting it so it gets seen.

Maybe at the top next to discussion, should be a note (frequently asked questions) a faqs section. These questions are asked many times a week, and a lot of old hats get upset, so why don't they craft a faqs section to make it easier for everyone.

Many new people that come anywhere may have questions. If its frequently asked, how would they know if they never saw it before and are new to this whole system.

It took me a month before I sold my first photo. Another good word to do a search on is marketing. There are plenty of very helpful threads in the forum on the subject. FAA does not market your work for you so you will need to market your work. I use social media to market my photos (Face Book, Twitter & Google +). Welcome to FAA and good luck. :)

Thanks to all.
Marketing is key.
Yes, can see why the question of first sale should be in FAQ
We ran a retail store on Main Street Canada for 17 years. Times were good and times were tough. Marketing and presentation were big then.
Will be patient, determined and assertive.
Thank you again to everyone.
Hope you don't mind if I follow you.
