Almost exclusively US, although I have sold to Germany, UK and Canada which, contrary to the thoughts of many, is ex US! ;D

I'd expect sales to be a bit slow from Canada due to the current exchange rate, though a few have come in.
Most of my sales have been in the U.S....only one sale when I first began here in 2011 to Belgium.
Also one self-fulfilled rolled up print to Scotland.

Roughly 15% of my sales are from Canada lately.

And around 30% total outside US.

All my sales since the very start are international. But then I live in Sweden...
Even if they are not many...they are nearly all US sales. With good artists cut. Europeans are used to much lower POD prices than what you can charge in the US.

And they are used to much lower shipping costs as well.

One phone case to New Zealand. Plus someone from Australia found one of my Australian photos here, then got a printer from Sydney to contact me to get get a file and print a large acrylic (probably didn't want to pay the exorbitant shipping costs)

Edward, I am so happy to have my first photograph sell yesterday to a person from Australia! Photography is a new medium for me and I have lot to learn in the future, I didnot know how difficult to is it until now! I am learning so much from you guys by reading in this community discussion, To-Tam

Canada, South Africa and Australia.

The Australian one was the most surprisingly because it was the 'most international': me as German sold a Argentinian image to Australia!

I think the main reason for so less international sales are the immense shipping costs.

A couple to Canada, a card to the UK and the largest print I've sold went to Hong Kong or somewhere like that.

Sales outside the us are about 5%.

Although I'm an artist on FAA I've considered buying art from other artists through FAA, but have been put off by exorbitant shipping costs re shipping from USA to Australia. In the past FAA has promoted itself as being international re not just being Fine Art America, but embracing others countries names within and through this title. Yet when one wants to buy art all of a sudden one can only buy this art through an FAA USA supplier! I find this disconcerting and somewhat dishonest to be perfectly honest here. And bottom line FAA it's just not good enough!

My apologies to the initiator of this thread it this seems a bit too negative, but the subject is sales and I have been a prospective buyer several times as are many of FAA artists on this site with all due respect.

ps I have sold one of my artworks as Xmas cards one year btw!

I've yet to have any sales abroad, but do get sales from time to time that have no relationship to the place that the image ends up.

a full 20% of my sales come from outside of the US...a big thank you to my art collector in Innisfall, Canada. Tell your friends, eh!

Most of my European sales are through a European POD, but then I recently sold two iPhone 6 covers to someone in Brooklyn.

Oh, wait! Brooklyn only seems foreign to me. ;)

@ Richard. Excuse me, Ex US? What does that mean?

Edward Fielding

Yes, LEANNE there are some logistics that need to be hammered out before FAA can be a true worldwide seller. Thankfully they added a UK supplier, what six months ago?. I attribute 20% or so increase in sales to that.

Although shipping costs must still be high in Europe because most of my sales there are rolled in a tube. Certainly it would be cheaper to ship the electronic file to the local printer and fulfill from the native country.

UK is an island so I imagine shipping to the rest of Europe is pricey.

.....

I assume Richard means that Canada is not part of the US. North America yes.

I was just going through my sales from last year, and I also had a buyer in Belgium too. I forgot all about that one.

It surprises me to see any international sales at all, with what the shipping must cost them. It's very inspiring to know that someone wants my work that badly.

@Edward....thanks for your interest and feedback. This purchase would have been my first FAA purchase and since I'm not familiar at all with how to proceed in this situation, I'm grateful for any advice such as yours which could educate me on best practices in buying art through FAA.

Can you please explain in more detail re your line "Certainly it would be cheaper to ship the electronic file to the local printer and fulfill from the native country".........ie what steps are taken in doing this?.

How Are Your International Sales?

Well, thank you.

Edward Fielding

Leanne, I'd contact the seller and see if there is less expensive way. They might have an account with a local print on demand vendor.

Edward Fielding

Personally I'd gladly give up options like so many paper choices if it allowed this site could expand Internationally faster.

@Theresa "ex US" (or simply xUS) just means outside the US.

Please forgive me, I am so used to evolving "corporate speak", using terms like RoW ("Rest of World" - meaning everywhere except the USA, but sometimes including Canada); NA which, for reasons unknown may or may not include Mexico (which IS in North America); EU (which may mean the 28 member states, but more often than not excludes the "Eastern European" countries of Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary,Slovenia, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, but paradoxically includes Switzerland). It all gets rather confusing after a while....

I presume that Canadian sales are fulfilled from USA. If so, nothing changes.
Shipping from UK would much costlier.

I got my first UK sale today. Nothing from Europe proper so far. I have sold to Australia and South America but that was a long time back.
