Commenting And Replying - New Member Here

hi maggie i do not think being able to comment is a part of premium membership.

I'm sure you don't have to be a premium member to comment. I thought anyone could. I'm sure Abbie will advise if not.

The reply button should be to the right of the name of the commenter. It should open a box up under his comment. One thing I have seen before is that it might open the box up but not automatically scoll the page up far enough for you to see the box.

You do not need a premium membership to comment, but regardless, you should definitely get one! Your images are fantastic!

Wow - I'm amazed at how quickly I got a response from so many of you.

I just now got a comment from someone and have tried to reply (yes, there is a reply box and button) but once I replied, it simply disappeared. I have no idea what I can be doing wrong.

Try by just adding another comment to your own piece. Also have a look at your Activity Stream, you can reply to comments there.

Ar you sure you are signed in?

When you have the image open can you see the comments underneath it? There should be a little word that says "reply" around that coment and you can type in a reply there. Also makes sure in your behind the scenes page you have comments enabled so that they show up. I think it might be under the link "defaults" or "default settings". If comments is not enabled you won't be able to see comments. Also are you using the artistwebsites or just the Fine Art America Site? Comments don't show up on the paid artist website account. Jessica, - yes, I have signed it. I was signed in yesterday too as I was in the middle of uploading my images.

Barbara - I will do a test comment and also see if I can reply in the activity tab. I'll let you all know if it works.

Make sure to click the reply button after. Open up your image from your page and reply from there.

Your galleries have no cover image. You can edit each gallery and click "use as logo" next to the picture you want.

I was able to leave a comment on my own image via activity but commenting and replying on the actual page under the image is not working at all for me.

Yes, Jessica...yes, i did reply using the reply button. but the page refreshes and nothing is there.

And Lara, I'm talking about the FAA page. I do not have an FAA artist website at the moment as I already have my own website online. As for the Default settings, I have no place to check allow comments.

And I'm seeing all your new comments on my images (so kind, I'm feeling a bit embarrassed as my intention was not to get attention) but trying to reply to you there to say thank you is still not working for me. :-)

Maggie the allow comments is only for the artist website not FAA. Did you only try it via activity page or did you trry from your profile page? Maybe you can try with a different browser?

Jessica - Yes, I have noticed that. I will be tending to add images to the galleries today. I will also be uploading more images - slowly and surely... still getting my feet wet!

And Marlene - Thank you - if it does not resolve soon, I will put in a ticket. Perhaps it is just a glitch as you say. I have built my own wordpress website so I do know how a reply button works but it simply doesn't seem to want to go through for some reason.

I will be putting in a ticket and I just now again tried to comment on an image by someone else and it didn't go through after the page refreshed and I also tried replying again and it didn't either. Hopefully it is something silly like using the wrong browser. I'll let you all know if I get it resolved.

It's a good idea to at least close the browser or switch to another.... even if it doesn't work, that info will help zero in on the problem.

I am running a few hours behind in the support

Update the browser or make sure it is updated
whilst playing up do not use the activity to respond but go to the image itself
try a new browser as Marlene said..often it is an addon or un-updated plugin causing this

Thank you for your response.

I am using FF (the latest version) and have closed the browser and restarted - and no go. Also tried signing in with Chrome and that didn't work either so I am a little perplexed but, I have several things to do and will be back later this afternoon so don't worry about being being busy - do what you need to that are more of a priority.

I wonder if it could be something silly like my home town has an apostrophe in the name? Coding can get weird sometimes with such odd things.

The member that encouraged me to join here is called Rick Mosher. I left him a comment and he says that in his activity he can see he received a comment but cannot see the comment. I hope this may help to troubleshoot to find what is happening.

Jessica, I have been doing that. I did not comment on Rick's image through the activity area... I commented directly under his image. I told him and he related to me that in his activity area, he can see that he received a comment but it is nowhere to be found. I promise I am trying to comment and reply directly beneath the actual images where everyone else is commenting.

I have so many people to thank and to visit your pages and images too - I can't wait to get my commenting working so I can reciprocate your generosity and kindness.

When you look in Activity...you will see comments that are awaiting your reply...but...sometimes you have click the "enlarge and comment" link to go specifically to that page to reply... otherwise the comments sometimes don't "take".

Although I am not able to comment on any images I have found that your enlarge and comment is allowing me to reply to thank people that have commented. Abbie from Tech is supposed to go into my account and see if she can comment -- hopefully she will find what the issue is.

Actually - I thought that replying through the enlarge and comment worked as it showed my replies to people on that page, but when I went to the image itself after, the replies do not show up. I'm quite perplexed.

I've tried it with 2 browsers both updated to the latest versions
i've disabled my adblock for this website
I've tried through the regular image page
I've tried through the activity page

I can't figure out what it could be.
will do some googling.

Just keeping up to date with what is happening with this.

It is not resolved.
I have been able to reply to comments on my images through the activity page by clicking on enlarge and comment and that works.

Sadly, I have no way of commenting on images by other member. I feel horrible as I don't know what to do as I think it is only fair that I also support the artists here with my comments.

My friend, who does a good amount of coding for his company joined me on Skype and I shared my screen we went through everything I was doing, both on Firefox and Chrome and still it didn't work.
We have gone through all my options - and checked multiple different things including signing out of Google etc., We did notice that in the Web Console for developers that there were errors about logging into Facebook - but I am not on Facebook... are you all? Is that it? Do I need to be a member?

As a last resort, I logged out and let him sign in as me and attempt to comment. He was not able - I am in Canada, he is in Sweden. I use Firefox, he uses Chrome.

I will convey all this to Abbie but please know that I really would comment on much of your work if I was able to - and it is not for a lack of trying.
