Posting Faa Links On Facebook

Hi All,

This has frustrated me for some time now, and try as I might I can find no real solution.

When copying and pasting an image link to Facebook, is there ANY way to control how the image appears?

It seems to be random. I have tried using the URL at the top of the page. I have tried using the embed link. I have tried going to one of the products and copying those URLs. Sometimes it shows the product, thumbnail size. Other times it shows the center third of the image (see example)--which is rarely the part of the image I want to show off.

IS there a way to do this?

Not that I'm aware of. Facebook seems to have a one size fits all frame for image links.

Sorry for the small image above...here is a bigger one of the example of the kind of view I do NOT want but can't seem to change.

Just shows the middle third of the image.

But sometimes I get this view:

At least the entire image is shown, albeit tiny.

And forget about posting a vertical image!

Copy the link to the item you want so that there's a usable link that a buyer can click on BUT upload your own photo of the item that goes to that page. If you upload your own photo it'll show the entire image, and not have a link preview of the link provided but when someone clicks on the link it'll go to the page of the image you had posted.

That's what I do, Cody!

Oh and upload your photo first and then do your description with the link... it works a lot easier that way or you're having to try to delete the preview but keep the web link working.

It's what works best for me too Jessica if I'm really worried about it looking perfect. Right now, I'm just using the auto submit to Facebook and Twitter when I upload new items so that I'm not having to do several different sites at once. It just got too much trying to do each one manually. Right now, I'm just trying to get my Facebook page and Twitter page built up with followers and my FAA site built up also. Etsy seems dead and I've got my original paintings on there and nothing else. Also, have my original paintings on Ebay. I'm trying to make FAA my main focus though. I like how there are so many things you offer all at once and the best part is I don't have to pack or ship any of it! LOL :)

Do you worry about not having any watermark on the image you upload yourself?

And you hit the nail RIGHT on the head, Cody...not fulfilling the orders IS the best part of POD for me, hands down.

No, I don't worry about watermarks at all. When you upload an image to Facebook, I'm pretty sure it can't be downloaded at full resolution...but if it can, oh well. If people want to get your image bad enough there's plenty of ways to do so. I think the watermarks just make it look bad and it's hard for people to visualize what it looks like without the watermark. I just trust people to be honest and if they're not, then they'll reap what they sow is how I look at it. :)

By the way, my mom's maiden name was Reeves. Are you kin to any of the Reeves's from the Bryant, Alabama and Trenton, Georgia area? Sand Mountain?

Hi Cody. Thanks for the input. My husband's ancestors mainly come from Charleston (one of his great grandfathers is Enos Reeves, a famous silversmith there, another was Abraham Reeves, designer of the St John's Lutheran Church gates). None from Alabama or Georgia that I am aware of.

Upload a small version to Facebook, maybe 900 pixels at the largest size. If you really want to watermark it, you can do that on the FB image.

I ALWAYS put watermarks on images I post to Facebook! Images are shared all the time and people can download them and post them as their own.

Hi Jessica...I have always done the same. I just get tired of making two versions of every image, one with and one without. I like the convenience of posting the image WITH the link right from FAA onto FB, but I guess if I want to control the way the image appears I am going to have to do it another way. Annoying, to say the least.

On a related note - the last two days when I've uploaded images to my artistswebsite page, I notice that the links are appearing on my personal Facebook page despite not having that option checked. Normally I choose one image to upload to my FAN page by cutting and pasting. Has something changed?
