Still having some fun, but hospitals are mostly boring....

Gregory, my husband had a triple bi-pass at age 70 in mid October. Right now he is outside at his work bench messing around. That's after our daily walk of 1 mile or so. Never say Never. Get well fast.

Disproving Cody's comment:

You know how the stock manipulation spams actually do work? Well, not so much for my art scam. I'm at home again, and somewhat bemused:
This twinge in my chest was almost identical to the other two during the last week, and there's been no run on my prints.
The first event was a heart attack, and I needed four stents.
The second event was a heart attack, and the problem was so microscopic It could only be treated by medicine.
Today, the third non-event today was nothing at all. They sent me back home. Paradoxically, I was annoyed:
All three events felt the same, as regards chest pain. I can't tell the difference! So how will I ever know if it is a "real" heart event or not?
The doctor said I should probably wait for more classic symptoms before coming back to the ER.
But I didn't have the big classic symptoms the first two times, and those were real heart attacks.

Anyway, what's that Mr. Forest Gump used to say? Life is a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get, unless you cheat, and read the "key" that comes with some brands of chocolates. I'm not sure how you do that with heart attacks though...

Live long and prosper. May your art go up in value while you are still alive.

Anyway, take care of yourselves, and I'll try to do the same.

I my goodness! Sending positive and healing vibes your way. Feel better soon. You can't go we would all miss you terribly and the hummingbirds would really miss you too!

Sorry to hear that, but you seem to be in good humor about it. I certainly don't like what your doctor said. I'm learning to be more distrustful of doctors, and yet they do save us. Good that you trust your instincts and actually go in rather than be dismissive. I would not "wait for classic symptoms" if it were me! Good health to you!

Lara Ellis

I agree with Patricia, even if it's not the "classic symptom" get to the ER! Be a thorn in those Doc's side if you need too, it's not like they are underpaid artists ;-)

Very sorry to hear that, Gregory, Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm with Rich. Drop not only your artistic endeavors, but your forums as well. Spend every waking minute studying and learning every nuance of nutrition, exercise and health so that you may survive. Once you're happily and healthy doing so, you can reinstate anything you want.

I can't afford the time and money to visit the ER every time this happens, so I'm going to have to temper this somehow. The doctor was not being callous, he was answering a question by me on how to achieve a practical balance on when to visit the ER and when to ignore it. I think an at-home EKG with internet connection to my cardiologist would be a great thing to screen the really mild chest pains. You see, I have shoulder pain that manifests in my chest all the time, and is exactly like I felt before these 3 ER trips. The difference in the first event was nausea. The second event was temporal proximity to the first. The third was the same, and only the third was a false alarm.

If you think about it, the nausea, which might have been flu-ish, was extremely providential. It sent me to the ER, and got the 4 arterial blockages of over 70% diagnosed and treated with stents BEFORE any heart damage occurred. My veins are now fully functional, at least at the size that is treatable... So my prognosis is excellent.

My wife snorted when she read this thread and saw the Pollyanna remark. She assures y'all that I'm no Pollyanna, by any stretch of the imagination. In fact my household nickname is Eeyore. She says I'm most positive when interacting with others outside the home.

Gregory, I wish you well. Hang in there. Life is one day at a time for me too... as I have had cancer. All the best to you!
