Looking forward to it - pun intended - stays light longer in the evening which suits me just fine!

Quote from some obscure farmer (sorry, didn't get a name):
"It's like cutting one end of the blanket and sewing it on the other to make the blanket longer".
Seriously, this far south, it isn't anything but a circadian rhythm killer.

"Celebrate" is a bit of a stretch. And I agree with Vanessa. Finally light again at 7am and light at 7pm. Things were moving along just fine naturally...wish we did not have to mess with it.

i don't even know why we still have it. some states don't some counties do and it's all rather confusing and conflicting with my own cycles. luckily i can plan my day the way i want and not worry about waking up oddly. i always hated it when i drove, it was always dark, but the sunrise was usually nice.

Please don't remind me, I hate it!!! I thought Utah was finally going to do away with it, but so far nothing.
One thing that kills me about it is, it has been pretty much shown that we actually use more energy with daylight savings, rather than less, so what do the brainiacks in Washington do, they just change when it starts and stops, the Peter principle in action, their idea couldn't be wrong, they just need to tweak it...more like twerk it if you ask me.

In Europe, Summer Time begins on Palm Sunday this year; 29th March. So if you're flying across the pond, you'll be falling back again; as we're still in Winter darkness.

I want the world to pick ONE or the OTHER and leave it the heck alone....I don't even care which one anymore.

I'd like to turn the clock forward,..and spring ahead about 2 months,..and get out from under the 5 feet of snow outside.
Enough is enough already.

I hate the hour changing. The spring change is fractionally better than the autumn one despite the 'loss' of the hour. When I was a teenager, here in the UK, there was an experiment of not changing it but for some reason it wasn't kept like that.

in this day it makes no sense to have day light savings. they moved it a few years ago, it makes no sense at all to have it. we have artificial lights now and stay up past sunset. i just never got the point.

Finally that one clock on the boat that never got set last fall will look right again. My wife sets the clock next to the bed 30 minutes fast to motivate her when she first opens her eyes and the one in her car 20 minutes fast so she never misses the ferry to the mainland. My approach was to put my watch in the drawer next to my cell phone and sell my car when I retired. What is this time measurement thing of which you speak, don't you understand that time is just an illusion created in our minds as a sort of filing system. The sun and the tides tell me when things are supposed to happen these days.

Count me amongst those who think they should just leave it alone. I'm also not a fan of darkness in the morning. It is especially dangerous for school kids getting on buses. With all the high snow banks and unshoveled sidewalks this time of the year, they are left to standing on street corners.
I once detested the twice-a-year time change when my kids were infants. Just get them on a schedule, and it was messed up again. Now it doesn't much matter to me.

I don't really care for it, it messes up my day. It doesn't change the hours of daylight we have.

We don't change in AZ...but don't wish you lived here....we have to remember what everyone else is doing and when....so YES

Val, a group of "mad" golfers got together and said "how can we mess with everybody else and get some more T time in the day?"
I'm serious. I don't play golf. Played once. Got a shot right on the green in one swing about 3 feet from the cup (par 3 course). Took me about 8 puts to get the stupid thing in the hole.
Who needs more daylight to hit a little ball around a manicured lawn? I like hockey, it's a manly sport. Doesn't matter if there's more daylight later in the day or not.

@Ed, awesome!
Hawaii doesn't change either, but anyone there probably isn't too bothered by the rest of the country. Surf, sunshine, and other items are too distracting :P
If only Florida would join in :)

Yes, if ONLY Florida would join in! I detest this stupid night and the whole change. Pointless.

We should have Double Summer Time here in the UK.
My father always used to talk about playing golf at 11pm
back during WW2 - when DST was implemented.
We could do with golf - and a lot more at 11pm today!

People who seem not to care about Daylight Savings Time must not be outdoor types.
It REALLY makes a difference, if you get off work late and need some daylight outdoor time. I say eliminate (or re-define) Eastern Standard Time. No one should have to drive home at 5:00 PM in the dark.
Obviously, this post is a bit dated now, but I just saw it, because I have been spending more time outside because of DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.
Well, the more north you go, the worse daylight savings time gets. However, I still think we need the eastern time zone because the country's a little too wide otherwise.
I definitely hear your pain, though. Random f-bombing in this video, but you might enjoy the point it makes:

This time of the year, my east coast family is 3 hours ahead.....the rest of the year, it's only 2 and far easier. Traveling is ridiculous...a whole day is eaten up on the way there....who care if I get it back on the return? by then, the trip is over. :(

That video is too funny. That was one fat farmer. And cows do have feelings. I like them tender.

Great video.
Alabama tried to go to DLST all year long but found it is a national law that forbids it.

here's one i saw years ago that explains it pretty well and showing just how confusing it is.

Aviation uses Greenwich mean time all the time so everyone is always on the same time zone.

This only a wiki entry, but
"Under the Uniform Time Act, moving an area on or off DST is accomplished through legal action at the state level. Some states require legislation while others require executive action such as a governor's executive order. Information on procedures required in a specific state may be obtained from that state's legislature or governor's office. Although it may exempt itself, if a state decides to observe DST, the dates of observance must comply with federal legislation.[5]"
5. Source: CRS Report to Congress s:Congressional Research Service Report RS22284 Daylight Saving Time
So it looks as if you can be off of daylight savings time year round if Alabama wanted to choose that route.
lol, David.
Glad everyone enjoyed the video.
