you can't put your own watermark on the image. so that's out. you can use the fineart logo, but expect lower sales. i don't put anything on it. you still need way more tags than you have.

Mike, does the watermark really detract from sales? I find it hard to believe that these days people don't know it won't be printed. Have you, or anyone, ever tallied up a week of sales on FAA to see what the majority of sales are...marked or not marked?

There are a lot of topics on this subject. I comes down to you. What do you feel comfortable with. I personally prefer having the FAA watermark. I know that images can still be stolen with the watermark, but that's just what I feel comfortable with. FYI - I just sold an image that had the watermark.

there have been a dozen threads on this subject. there are many people that think its now a part of the image including artists. many are confused. i don't mark them. and i wanted them marked i would have to ask to have them put on and put off. and who needs that? plus i can't add up in a week, because i don't get constant sales. and you'll never know the sales you lost due to the mark. why take the chance? the mark can be removed very easily, it doesn't show up on white at all, doesn't say who the image belongs to, they can't trace it back to you.

and mostly - it does not encourage sales.

I say why take the chance of losing sales because you are paranoid? If I want to steal a water mark is not gonna stop me.

Not a popular opinion but I'm for watermarks...not fond of the FAA placement but that's what is available. Art sells here without any set pattern. With watermark/without watermark, with tons of likes/without a single like, with description/without description. Don't agonize over every choice. Do with what YOU want to do as an artist and go from there.

When the click full preview (which everyone almost is in favor of) you can clearly see fine art america on the watermark. Can someone explain to me why that doesn't deter sales? I am bit baffled that one causes low sales while a zoomed preview that shows a watermark is not.

I unchecked the watermark box, but I am STILL seeing watermarks on my photos! I tried changing it both for the "Default Settings" in general and also for the specific photo. Maybe it's just my computer. Can you still see the watermark on my photo below, for example? If you can still see then that means the settings don't seem to be working for me.

Ashley, you can ask Abbie to remove your watermarks from your images.
