April At Antelope Canyon

I got a couple permits for The Wave in Coyote Buttes in AZ and will be spending 10 days in the area with someone who has never been.

I've never been out there in April before and am wondering if the light beams shine down through Upper Antelope Canyon at that time. Anyone know?

I'm inclined to satisfy the desire to go to Antelope Canyon with a trip to lower Antelope but if April is a good time for the light beam shots then maybe I'll include that since it's such an icon and they may never be out there again.

Are any of the other Navajo canyons out there for which their are tours but you can access on your own with a Navajo Lands day pass worth going to?
