Abstract Paintings

I Am New, Can I Have Your Opinion.

Hello all,

One of my greatest hobby is to visit museums to make pictures of old paintings or statues which are in the public domain and manipulate them to give them a new identity.

It's not easy to evaluate its own work. Can you give me your opinion, for now I only published 5 images:

Thank you for your reply.

Regards,
Vincent.

when shooting a statue, try to get all of it in frame and avoid the blue shadow parts. i see a thing on the left that should be cloned out, and it looks soft up close, like it was enlarged about 20%. nice if there was a description.

Photography Prints
same with this, that glow in the background, parts of other statues are distracting. there seems to be a sort of doubling on the head in here, it looks like it was edited in a phone with instagram, then enlarged a little bit. the question is, what makes this unique?

Art Prints
the hint on what to do with it, kind of cheapens the experience. overall the statues look like you took them from a museum. the angle, the lighting and such. and i don't really see what you did with it, other than to make it a little softer. in other words, what makes it unique? since anyone can shoot it. as can the buyer.

Art Prints
this at least is different, though the vignette and color transition could be a bit smoother.

in any case, these all need descriptions and more keywords.

Hello Rowan, Mike,

Thank you Rowan for your comment.

Mike,

First, asking a french to speak english is like asking a donkey to run! ;) I will try my best. :P

Mike, for Eternal Queen, I noticed after the shoot that it was not all in frame. Too late, I was already back home in Toulouse, the shoot was in Louvre, museum of Paris. Too bad for me, but after all I like it like that.

Images are not worked with Instagram of my phone, CameraZoom FX and Gimp for PC (layers, contrasts, layer mask, filters, etc...). Anyway, for me, the tools used do not matter.

For Light of Pharaoh, what makes it unique? I can't reply to this question.

A missive for peace, what make it unique, once again. The arm, for example, I worked with Gimp it to make it highlight from the image.

Deep look, as you mentioned I wanted to make the transition be a bit smoother but I couldn't reached my goal.

They all are from the Louvre and I don't know what to put in the description.

You're right, I have to add keywords as well, but I don't really know what to choose.

Best regards,
Vincent.

if you shoot digital, you'll see that on the screen. not to sound sarcastic, but that's what its for. and always shoot a few just in case. and more than that, if it doesn't look good - or perfect, it doesn't go up, not in my case anyway.

the idea is, public domain things, anyone can use. if the image doesn't seem unique, then the buyer will say - i can do that and just pass it on by. the description should be the reason why someone should buy your things over someone else's. right now i'm working with PD images from the library of congress, because anyone can download these, i have to make mine unique from the original.

the black and white someone else took. the color is mine. making it more unique than the original. that's what your selling to the public. that's what i mean by unique. otherwise these are just snaps of statues and such. the keywords are the words you want to describe your piece and the types of people your trying to sell too.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for your comment, that means something to me. I understand what you mean about "unique". It's not easy, you have to get an idea, ideas can't be ordered.

I could find a way to get the vignette be a bit smoother.
