Themed Galleries Or Single Viewing?

As my submissions and portfolio begin to grow do you suggest starting themed galleries? Is it neater and a more organized way of viewing? If you have chosen to do this with your work are there any significant advantages to doing so or more of a personal preference?

It might be good if we could have sub-categories for galleries.

For my travel photography, I like to organise regionally: Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, North America, Oceania, South America.

It would be good if I could then have country galleries below them, and even city galleries within the country galleries.

I'm also thinking about creating keyword galleries: Beaches, Lakes, Mountains, Portaits, Scenic, Women.

Can photos (artwork) be placed in more than one gallery?

I went to look at your work, Beth.

Beth Ferris Sale has not created any image galleries.

You should have some form of grouping.

You should create galleries to help viewers and buyers narrow their search. Most people won't look through 200 images on your website.

I think, you should group your pictures in galleries, too.

But than, there is another question: Should you use your the gallery view or the image view as landing page? Most people here prefer to the gallery view. But there are also some people who say, that using the gallery page as landing page forces the potential buyer to make an additional click.

I use the shopping cart widget on my website, and there, only the image view is available as landing page (although many people are begging for the gallery view for a very long time!)

At 201 images you need galleries. And you can put the same image in several galleries. Start now or it will become a a pain!

Yes, start now otherwise you will start to get overwhelmed and not know what shot is iin what. Also, once you have your galleries set up you can put a photo instantly into a group when you upload it, save a lot of time

Like the idea of sub-groups

The less clicks the better.... That's a proven fact in marketing

However, in book terms, gallery view show chapters as a book does and you can go straight to the end if you wish.

it depends on the themes and if they make sense.

like for you (and you should have been doing this all along it would have made it easier to sort through, i would use:

amusement
landscape
still lives
animals
transportation

and a few others.

you want it to be simple, try not to repeat the same images in many galleries like i see many do (it's confusing).

How many Galleries can we have on one page?

I don't really want to go on to a second page, if I can help it.

You can have many albums on your page, But in a gallery you have about 50 images per page.
