Do People Actually Sell Their Non-holiday Winter Photos?

Such a long winter, and I have so many winter photos, but are non-holiday related photos selling? If so, feel free to share them here.

I don't know about photos, but my non-holiday winter paintings do sell. They provide a peaceful feel or a good memory of a winter vacation.

This image has 11,500 pins on Pinterest, 4,632 views, but has never sold. I'm thinking folks don't like to buy photos of winter. Especially right now.

Sometimes. ....

My top seller is a winter scene. I have another top ten seller that is as well.

Though, pure winter scenes as in the main subject is ice or snow are a harder sell but sometimes they do.

I would never buy a holiday winter photo or painting, just can't stand looking at it all year around. this photo is my most popular one on Pinerest, it been repined everyday and I sold prints of it . In some cities never has snow and they love winter/snow images !

I don't have many winter images even though in Michigan I have plenty of chances to shoot winter scenes.

This one gets some attention at shows but everyone seems to say the same thing. They don't want to look at snow. In the summer you don't want to think about it and winter you've seen too much of it. We are sick of it and it is ugly.

I've sold a bunch. People decorate their ski houses with winter scenes just like they decorate their beach houses with summer scenes.

Sell Art Online This one has almost 2,000 pins on Pinterest but no sales. I personally would never buy a winter image. I would prefer a beach scene, winter can make me depressed :)

Huh…I never really though about winter scenes being less popular/appealing. Here are a few snow covered mountain prints from winter that have sold, but mountains do look better when covered with snow:

i don't have any holiday cards that i really know of. i don't like theming something for a certain holiday, it makes it less salable.

Really interesting... I really like how Edward knew he had a special niche clientele (skis resorts) and was able to profit from it. I just know that where I live in the Northeast, where it is snowing yet again as I type this, if I tried to sell/,market some winter photos right now, I would be drawn, quartered, and have my entrails used for heating fuel by the lovely Jersey coast locals where I live.

They might "draw and quarter" you, but the rest of the world wouldn't . Some people love snow! Come on up to "our" Niagara Falls and you can get some great shots of it "frozen over" and sell those! It's gorgeous!

This summer on vacation in the Banff area the condo was covered with winter scenes. Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone - huge winter scene over the fireplace. You have to sell the romance of winter. Currier and Ives had no problem selling winter.

What's so great about sweltering summer heat and humidity anyway? You sell the fun of winter not the shovels.

Canada is a northern country and known for its snow and ice , imagine of play ice hockey outdoor in winter are very popular. I had many commissions of winter scenes. Some of our most expensive Canadian paintings sold at auction are winter scenes as well..

This image of an iconic barn in the ski town of Park City, Utah has sold many times. Customers from Park City have purchased it as cards but all of the print sales have been from outside of Utah. Probably as a reminder of a trip here.

We live right on the edge of where ice & snow winter dips down into the south, so we see just enough to make us really sick of it, usually middle of January to end of February. I pushed my self outside today to catch some photos before the ice went away, as we are expecting temp of 60 tomorrow. I lived in PA one winter, and realized that I was too much of southern person to be surrounded by snow & ice for weeks on end. Here's one I took today:

Good inquire Gregory. It does seem to be a disproportionate amount of Winter scenes that are Holiday themed that sell often. I have my share that fit that description.

Here is one I very recently uploaded to my website(s) and sold a 36" framed and matted print that is winter, but certainly not holiday festive.

And this winter scene is also a rather brisk seller, quaint New England and rustic but also not Holiday themed..

I sold this one couple months ago. The buyers were going to hang it over the fire place.

Though this was taken in Winter, there's nothing to really say it's Winter, but time will tell

My problem with this winter is the constant snow has kept me off the roads. I'm usually stuck at home shoveling and my wife takes the 4 wheel drive car to work. Seems like the roads are never clear. We just haven't had a break with any warmer temps or sun to clear away any snow. Walking around Manchester, NH last week was terrible because the sidewalks were not clear, no place to put the snow.

Must be terrible down south where you only get ice. At least the snow has been fresh all season, no time to get dirty.

A trip to Bennington, VT found this scene but I fingers nearly froze off.

First, I don't battle the elements of winter for anyone but myself. I do so because it's a passion. What sheer delight to witness and capture the beauty of this rocker of a winter! I have never seen Cape Cod this frozen. While the weather has been miserable in many respects, it is what it is. I also believe in practice, practice, practice....

Second, If someone wants to buy my winter images they know what to do ~

@ Edward - Yes, getting around has been a bear this year.. So many of the areas I frequent and have always wanted to see covered in snow aren't plowed. The beaches are easy to get to though

Living in Michigan, I have a lot of snow images. In fact I have a winter gallery here, but the only one I've sold with snow in it is this one. Maybe because it's called "Spring Thaw"?

This one gets a lot of attention at art fairs (it doesn't hurt that I have a big one prominently displayed), but people don't want to buy it because it reminds them of winter. However it is still a consistent seller. I sold 3 copies on a crafts site late last year, but none yet here on FAA. I also finally won a contest on FAA with this photo (and my vote wasn't the deciding vote).
