Unusual Comet May Be Seen Soon

Telescopes only (for my fellow amateur - and pro - astronomers)

Astronomers are scratching their heads over an unusual comet that is passing by the sun. The icy visitor to the inner solar system does not belong to any known family of sungrazing comets, and it appeared to be doomed as it made its plunge toward the sun on Feb. 19th. Instead of disintegrating, however, the comet has emerged apparently intact, and could become a target for telescopes on Earth when it emerges from the sun's glare in the weeks ahead. Images and updates may be found on http://spaceweather.com.

Do you know if it was the amateur astronomers that spotted it first? Thank goodness for these enthusiasts because isn't about 80% of this kind of activity first detected by these people?

Is this THE comet?

Thanks, Abbie. Not sure it's a comet, though. On the 20th I happened to look into the mirror and noticed the black oil, which had been dormant for years, has begun swirling around in my eyes again.
