@Marlene, should I say Happy Chinese New Year instead of Lunar New Year? Why is your Lunar New Year is not until March 21st?

Our Lunar year has a leap month 7 times in a 19 year cycle so that the months stay aligned to the agricultural seasons in order for our holidays to coincide with the proper season. It's a little complicated but the lunar year is about 10 days short of a solar year, so every 3 years approximately, we have lost a month. We pop a 13th month in to keep things aligned. In 2016, we will have a 13 month year next.

It is so true Marlene. A lunar year is calculated based on cycles of the moon (instead of on cycles of the sun). Lunar New Year is celebrated by those Asian countries that use lunar calendar

Happy Lunar New Year to EVERYONE

Happy Chinese New Year to Chinese (those who were born in China or have the Chinese cultural background)

Not too complicated unless we try to keep track of one system while using another.
