My name is Gill Rogers, Im from South Gloucestershire. I've always wanted to be a photographer but could never afford the kit. When I had my twins I found believe it or not that I had a lot of spare time on my hands and got into digital art, started out creating 3d landscapes and images as I couldn't do it for real. Then I got my bridge camera and with inspiration from friends and learning how to use my camera I managed to self teach myself what I know now.

Welcome, Gill, your work is STUNNING! I love adding digital effects to my photography too.... glad you found time to pursue your dream while caring for you little ones! I think you will do wonderfully here....here's hoping for many sales. God bless!

I joined at the end of November. I've lived in Northern Utah most of my life. I paint landscapes and vehicles, mostly using acrylic occasionally using pastels. I also draw and sketch a lot, my favorite mediums being pen and ink and graphite, occasionally I'll color my pen sketches with watercolor. I often work from life, out in rural areas, in the mountains, in parks and even at car shows. I call art my "mid-life crisis". I'm 48 now and some time in my early 40's I got the sudden urge to get into art, (I have no idea where it came from.) I got a sketchbook, pencils and went nuts sketching everything I saw and haven't stopped since. Here are a few of my favorites from my galleries;

My name is Louise Adams. I've been on FAA for just over a month. I am pleased to be here and have been greeted warmly.
My style is abstract/contemporary. I have been doing artwork in some form for most of my life. I've evolved through many styles, mediums and supports including stained glass and fused glass. My work is driven by experimentation and exploration - always trying something new.
I am Canadian, originally from Winnipeg but residing in Kelowna in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of BC for the last 16 years. My husband and I love nature, animals and are avid environmentalists. We have three rescue kitties that run our home.
Great to be here. Looking forward to meeting more artists - and - making some sales.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Simone Torkington and I have been a member since January this year. I currently live in Alberta, Canada, but am originally from Germany/UK. I started photography 6 years or so ago and have never really thought about trying to sell my work until recently, when a friend of mine encouraged me to give it a try - so here I am.

I tend to photograph landscapes, nature and animals in general, but also love travel photography, which I show off on my travel/history blog. I recently started to create digital art using my photographs as a basis.

I am still doubting whether my work is actually good enough for anybody to want to part with their money, but I guess only time will tell.

Here are a few examples of my work:

I joined 3 weeks ago and have enjoyed learning the site and love looking at the great photography uploaded here. I live in north central Wisconsin, which is an area with a lot of water - lakes, rivers and creeks and trees, a very scenic area. This northern part of the state is known for being a vacation area. I would classify myself as a landscape and nature photographer. I enjoy chasing sunrises and sunsets. I also like shooting after the sun goes down.

The first camera I bought was 35 mm Olympus OM-10 in 1981, while living in Wyoming. I went through a lull in photography with getting married and having a couple of sons. In 2005, I bought my first digital camera. That one was replaced as of 2013 and I have not stopped shooting since.

I am looking forward to becoming a part of this community.

Wow, Dale, lovely scenics. Welcome! I am partial to photographing waterscapes myself. Is it Wisconsin that is known as something like "the land of 1000 lakes"?? Lovely!

Rose, thanks for looking. Actually that would be our neighbor to the west, Minnesota, that uses the term of Land of 10,000 Lakes. Actually, Wisconsin has over 15,000 lakes.

Hi, I joined FAA in January, have really enjoyed looking at everyone's work. I started doing photography many years ago, and have taken it up again now that my boys are away at college. Hi everyone. I joined a little over a month ago. I am a South African living in Swaziland - a landlocked country within South Africa. Mostly I pencil sketch portraits of people and pets in graphite but recently decided to dive into the land of colour and it's been exciting. I have a Facebook page www.facebook.com/pamsportraits if anyone would like to see some of my portraits since I can't add them to my FAA. I have been drawing most of my life, didn't study art, it was mostly just something I did now and then that I enjoyed. About a year ago I decided I need to be happy and so I've been a full time artist since. It's not easy but I am encouraged by the response I have had in my community to my art and now trying to reach more people. I don't have many images to share at the moment but you have to start somewhere right?

Andre Carriere here from Muskoka Ontario CAN, Brand new to the site and still loading images as we speak. Not sure what to expect from this site. Loving all the art from others.
I am a full time photographer here shooting Mostly Real Estate and Architectural Photography now for the last 6 years. Did the wedding thing for over 10, but now I am finally starting to get my creative side out again which is what got me into photography in the first place. I have a love for mountain Biking, so I wanted to start a whole collection of fine art Vintage bike themed images. My wife and I were looking for bike themed wall art for our home with no luck...so this inspired me to simply create my own. I have just recently stumbled across this website and noticed a ton of great work including bike stuff. So glad I found this site. Thanks for starting this post. I'm just starting with my Bike images now, then will expand into all my others.

Thanks for creating this discussion for all of us newcomers! I've been on Fine Art America for about 2 months now, but am slowly working on figuring out how things work here. I'm a photographer, but really my joy is taking those photos and digitally altering them, in a variety of ways. That's where I have the most fun, and the most inspiration. Lately, I've also been learning more about 3D rendering. I'm amazed by everyone's talent and hope to get to know more people here, as I slowly come out of my shell.

I am really new...been here maybe a week, but I am excited to be here!
I am originally an Alberta girl but 3 yrs ago my husband and I moved here to Hay River, NT where there are many beautiful things to capture! I have been into photography for several years and I have been starting to sell my prints and Facebook is/was my medium. I am out-growing them.
I have started a website, awhile ago, but it seems to be a lot of work and it has fallen to the wayside...

I am a photographer living in Northern Utah, in what used to be a very small town called Midway, I have lived here for over 50 years.
I started photography many years ago as a portrait/wedding photographer, I still do portrait photography, along with portraits I have always enjoyed photographing nature, which is my main pursuit now.

WOW! Some wonderful work posted so far.

I joined at the end of Dec, live in a small village in the UK and have always been a keen photographer. Landscapes are my passion, but with my family /job etc it has seemed that only on holiday have I had the time to focus on my photography so many of my images are from travels in the last few years. I also enjoy photographing the flowers in my garden as the seasons change. Using various apps to enhance images is a recent extension of this.
With the children heading to uni, I should have more time so joining FAA is a first step to hopefully selling my work. I have been joining groups/contests, adding images to Pinterest etc etc but am not selling anwhere else....yet!

Thank you for creating this welcome discussion group for all of us new to FAA. I joined a couple of days ago and I’m still trying to learn my way around the site and trying to understand the best ways to use all the resources here. Rose, if you don’t mind I do have a question that I would like to ask; When a member of FAA posts a comment about an image and you reply back using the “reply” link, does the reply only appear under the comment made or does it also get sent to the member who wrote the comment? The reason I’m asking it that a couple of members have given some great comments to a couple of my photos and I want to respond back to them. Thanks in advance.

I live in Santa Maria which is located on the central coast of California. I retired four-years ago after a forty-year career of being a college instructor at our local college. I taught electronics, computer science, computer networking, mechatronics, and automation (I love to tinker). I have always been interested in photography and now I have the time to explore and improve my photographic skills. Most of my images are landscapes from overseas travels that my wife and I have been lucky enough to enjoy these past four-years. We love to hike, experience nature, and explore our National Parks. If you are interested, I do post a number of images at www.flickr.com/photos/rwalldredge for my family and our fellow tour travelers. As you might expect, I do love to use software tools to enhance my raw images and try to not overdue any of the software effects. I really enjoy converting my photos into images that look like paintings. Hope I do sell some of my photos so I can purchase more hardware and software.

I am actually not new, but I am active again. Does that count? I started in 2009, but haven't really done anything out here, uploaded any pictures or been on any forums or anything for years. Then I sold a picture. And I thought, why have all my work on a hard drive where no one can see it when someone might want to buy it and enjoy it? So I decided to jump back in and I've been uploading pictures like crazy. Some are straight photographs and some are digital art. I really love photography and creating digital and non-digital art.

I am currently living in Brisbane, Australia, on a continent that has one big, huge beach all the way around it and so very many photographic opportunities and I'm trying to take advantage of my time here. We hope to be back in Tulsa, Oklahoma before the Christmas holidays and eventually want to retire in Mexico.

I am trying to learn my way around on FFA. I hope to set up the Facebook app today. Oh yes, and I am an author. I recently published my first book, "On the Dock: A Tale of Grand Lake."

My name is Pam and I live in Hawaii with 5 of my children. I joined FAA Jan. 2015 I have always enjoyed photography but like most things it went on the back burner once the kids came along. Over the past few years I have picked the camera back up and started going out shooting photos again. I love anything to do with nature. Living in the islands, I have beauty around me all the time and I really try to get out there and capture the moments. I have recently been trying my hand with some mixed media pieces and I am learning as I go.

I am also a teacher and in 9 more years I can retire so I hope that once I do I will be able to focus more on my photography. I do have a few online stores and I have started my own business this past summer and I create and sell a variety of items.
