We've all posted in the "Choose favorite work of the person above" thread. Did you agree with the choice or did it leave you scratching your head? I thought it would be fun to see what you would choose as your favorite out of your own portfolio. Just one image…and please explain why you chose it. I'll reserve my own choice until later when I've thought about it some more. :) Have at it!

My favorites (and I have a few) get very few views. I guess I love old wood and stones and wood textures, and they just don't seem to get that many views here. And I know what you mean, Diane. Some people choose photos of mine for a "favorites" thread, and of course it's always an image I like, but it's never one of my favorites.

I suspect that some participants in those threads simply chose a random image in order to get their own out there.
This is one of my favorites of my own work, both for the look of the conversion ovver to BW but also the feel of the image, the monumental size of Steamboat Rock and it's connection to the Green River.

OK…It was between two of my shots that I have in my Street Photography gallery. I settled on this one mostly because of how happy I was when I took it. We were in Paris on vacation and we came up to this corner where a man was playing a piano on the street. The Parisians were all standing and listening politely…then this little girl cried for her mom to let her out of her stroller. She did, and the little girl started dancing while everyone looked on. Pure joy. It just sums up how how I feel about that amazing city.
Nice stuff so far everyone :)

I feel like I really nailed it with Quantum Flux. It's got a nice composition; it's fun to explore; and it depicts a subject I find fascinating: the beginning of the universe.
Description: Within a tiny sliver of time (10^-43 seconds) after the big bang, the universe was born. The technical term for the creation of something from nothing is "Quantum Fluctuation." I created this piece because I wanted to try to visualize this incredible phenomenon.

Wow - thanks for raising the discussion, but it is a tough call. My favorite changes from day to day and depending on my mood. Currently I like this one as it represents to me how I went from concept to final composition in a fairly short time frame. I "rediscovered" one of the kid's "Rock'Em, Sock'Em Robots" games in the the basement and left it on a shelf. Then a few days ago I was thinking about how I could use it for a series of artwork. I came up with a few ideas but this one, portraying a series of rapid blows during a boxing bout, seemed right.
Tomorrow I would answer differently, as I seem to jump about from hardly edited photos, to heavily modified photos, graphical work and now vector graphics, depending on how my oddly-wired brain seems to take me...
This favorite is current for about 15 minutes after 14-Feb-2015 11:50 AM ET only :D

I actually never played that game. When I did…it seemed that my artwork could not be located…..LMAO.

As an abstractionist, I am aware that the vision I have when I'm creating a piece is not always what the viewer sees. For me that is one of the beautiful things about abstract art; that it meets the viewer where they are and moves them have a personal experience with it. For me, this piece is one of my favorites because I was able to use all of my skills as an artist to successfully convey a personal spiritual theme, and yet it is appealing to the viewer who does share my personal vision.

I have so many favorites but I will go with this one. It just has a radiance and the way one place looks like it has light glistening off of it makes me feel all warm and comfortable.

I believe "Daughter of the Prophet" is the best painting I have ever done. It contains many elements that pull the viewer in. Composition and story are strong, but still the viewer is still free to come to their own interpretation. The vaguely Mona Lisa smile captures the subject in mid-movement. A German girl of about 12 years of age, obviously Muslim she stands on the edge of becoming a woman. A woman looking to her future. What do the splatters represent? You decide.

This image has the most views in the least amount of time. It is Rose Sepia, but I also did a Cyan version at the same time. The
Cyan version lags in views by a wide margin.
I went back to the OP, I misread this. My favorite? Well not only is this my favorite, but is my most viewed. This is so
simple and beautiful. It is a Vermeer so how could I go wrong. My other Vermeer also gets my attention, strikes my fancy.

I haven't been here very long so I don't have a whole lot of views or images but top three most viewed are a bit of a surprise to me. The fourth most viewed is my favorite too, but that may be partly because I consider it to be a bit of a breakthrough, on top of that it just won a 2nd place ribbon at a local exhibition so obviously other people like it as well.

I have given up being surprised by what people like - I really relate to the title of the thread. My favourites tend to be the ones I have most recently worked on so if you asked me last week I would have given a different answer. I have two current favourites, a design I made to fit thin, long, empty wall spaces (Angels Wings Thin Collage) but my real favourite is this one made from five of my Barnie Paw Print designs.

It's not about your best work Andy, the question was which one in your gallery is your favorite and why.
I like them all for one reason or the other, favorites can change depending on my mood. I'll pick this one because I feel the colors and subjects all work well together, plus there is a 3D quality to it where I have the bird and branches illustrated above the frame.

This is my favorite because it has an emotional attachment. During the summer of '13 I traveled to Namibia, Africa by myself. I volunteered at a wildlife reserve which also had a school for the San children. The best moment was receiving a group hug from all the children after I had given them my donation of toys and educational supplies. This cheetah is one of the many wild animals I was able to help feed.

It's fun to see the choices in this thread - there are lots of talented artists here!
I had to choose my favorite from my Chicago gallery, because Chicago is a beautiful city to photograph, and I'm fortunate to live in the area. I chose this one because I like the twilight sky, panoramic crop, and the city skyline with Buckingham Fountain in the foreground.

I like the fog and mist from this image, it was an unusually cold day on the beach about 40 degrees but 2 miles away on the other side o fthe bridge it was 70. it created a nice effect witht he setting sun. After Hurricane Sandy 7 months later the pier is no longer there.

This is one of my favorites. My passion is old trucks and the many layers of paint that have weathered through out the generations. This looks fantastic on a canvas all the little details stand out so much more than the image on the computer. Madrid Relic by Steven Bateson Truck Photography.
This artwork of an old truck by Elise Palmigiani has always been one of my favorite. The beauty of art always lies in the eyes of the beholder.

I like the way this one turned out. It was one of those pieces that just seemed to take on a life of its own. I originally envisioned it as one peony in a vase, but the more elements I added, the more I loved it. The typography almost wasn't included. That was a last minute it's-3-in-the-morning-but-something-is-still-missing-and-I-won't-be-able-to-sleep-until-it's-done addition.

This one is my favorite ,i was having artist block one day and had no idea what to create,i sat and sat and nothing came to me , I logged into my account of FAA and thought i will look at what contests were on , I saw a contest for EYES, then all of a sudden my creativity light went on lol, I entered the competition and to my surprise it placed first. I was really stepping out side the bubble with this one but i love it :) this piece to me is one of my most imaginative pieces :)

This is very tough. I know I'm influenced by how others view my pieces, too - so when a piece I like gets lots of attention - people picking it at random for comments and making special comments on it even when it's not on my front page or a gallery cover or contest winner or anything - I think I start to like it more and more.
But I decided to use one that doesn't fall into that category. This one has a respectable number of views and comments, but is nowhere near the top of my images when it comes to such statistics. Like Diane (op), I really like it when an image has a human element and the spontaneity that only a good street capture can have, and this image does not fall into that category. But probably my second love is what I call design elements and that's what I like about this one. That and the colors. And the fact that it was taken on a special vacation and has personal meaning to me. And the fact that I live in the middle of the country so I can't just go out and get something like this any day. Anyway . . .

This piece was created from a dark place after a horrific break up. I don't really remember creating it but it's probably one that I'm most found of because when I look at it I remember the times we had together. For this reason, it is one of my favorites.
If I'm an honest, usually, my most recent upload is my favorite until I create something else..... then that one is my favorite and I get all excited about it. Until I make something else....

Hard to tell... This one is one of my favorite images for sure because I love winter, I love trees and I love black and white... ;-)
Minimalist and peaceful winter scenery in black and white - a beautiful row of trees in a winter landscape with lots of snow. Nobody is here - you can hear the silence...

I sure have enjoyed reading this thread and viewing the fabulous images! My favorite is usually the recently uploaded. Each image is a favorite for a time. I do not have The Favorite. My latest is a wild rose and I actually worked on this image for awhile because I experimented with textures after digitally painting. My style has been changing, or rather, refining to what I really enjoy as to post-processing an image. Also, I realized what I am really drawn to photographing and cannot wait until spring is in full bloom. Wild plants and flowers are on the top of my list! So, this latest is my favorite as I keep experimenting and refining my "artwork" feel, style, and voice. I love the whole process from photographing (out in the field with camera in hand) to post-processing (the programs on the computer).

It's not easy just picking one. Ask me another time, and it will be something different or newer.
Inspired by other photographers, I've been going out on foggy mornings. Whereas, once, I wouldn't think to head out into the fog with a camera. With a clear foreground of the two shallops accompanying the Mayflower II at state pier, the fog and sun breaking through remained in the background. It is my favorite shot from 2014. I entered it in the FAA contest.

One of my favorite photos that receives little fanfare or attention is "Sunrise of Summer", photographed shortly after summer solstice in 2012. I awoke early that morning from anxiety. When I couldn't fall back to sleep, I decided to walk to Delaware Park, located here in the city of Buffalo. When the sun began to rise, the beauty of the area really put on a show. I've always liked the multiple layers of shadows, light, reflections, etc. It's a very serene moment for me.

It's such a hard decision. Like others it depends on my mood lol. I chose this one mainly because I am still fairly new to colored pencil and I am very pleased with the realism I achieved with this piece. It's also a nostalgic piece for me, although I'm not a huge fan of bugs in general, as a kid I always loved the way these changed colors in the light. My sister and I always called them sticky bugs because of their Velcro like feet lol.

I have several favorites in my portfolio...but this has always been one of my VERY favorites. Being born and raised here in Wyoming, I've always loved the western lifestyle and the true west. This image captures the heart of that lifestyle in my opinion...with the Tools of the Trade. I also love the colors and texture captured in this image.

My favorites change also from time to time, usually depending on where I traveled to most recently.
This one has been my choice from my cruise down the Rhone River in southern France, last fall. I was very fortunate to capture this beautiful light on this colorful scene. I think the composition is exceptional and the details are quite good all the way through the archway.
