Nice find.....

BTW I put my version into grey scale, I then quad toned it and added depth by adding to the darker tones and doing the opposite to the
highlights. This made for more dimension depth than the original. I also used a version that had been worked on to take out the yellowing, the
aging from the original. I also sharpened the image slightly before adding the hollywood dream effect. All of my alterations were meant to be ever so
slight.

I have 3D glasses but they don't work on a laptop :(

What they can do nowadays is amazing. I was born too early I think as I would LOVE to see what they are doing in 100 years..... we may eve get to meet a real (well virtual reality/hologram) Mona Lisa

Is this supposed to be one those things where you look slightly cross-eyed at
the images and it blends into a 3-D image?
I think it's called Magic Eye or Magic Art, in a book.

They are abstract images you can't tell it is anything until you look at it a certain way.

It seems to be doing that a little, at least on my iPhone.

Mona always seems to me to look like Katy Perry for some reason, and vice versa. Does anyone else get that??

It's as though the boffins have somehow imaged her likeness and created a 3D robot popstar out of her, but forgot to tell anyone

What they are doing now with the Mona Lisa, so more people can appreciate the original

Athens, Greece-based software startup 3D-EYE is developing a product that will scan two-dimensional images and create 3D models that are 3D printer ready. They aim to create 3D prints of two-dimensional artworks, among other imagery, to bring the art-viewing experience to the visually impaired. Uses can also be broadened to the healthcare industry (e.g., ultrasounds) and museums, educational institutes, and many other applications. 3D-EYE's Indiegogo campaign, launched in October, extends through December 16, seeking to fund the company's initial launch. Interesting and amazing technology and uses for that.
Regarding though Da Vanci experimenting with the idea of 3-D from 2D,
I'm not so sure.

Roger,

3D printing of master pieces $34,000 per unit. Much of van Gogh's work is being printed. They use lasers to map out the
image, canvas, frame.....

Whether i beileve it or not, I do, is immaterial. The world is going to democratize the great
art collections. Wealthy families and museums will cash in on their collections.

Values will drop for some work.

A new valuation system will apply to great masterpieces. If people want a print, then the original's
value might be higher. With such great exacting prints the values of less desirable originals might drop.

Watch out below Andy Warhol.

Dave,

Isn't there a significant difference between "Relievo" and "3D-EYE".?

I believe that "Relievo" creates a simulated 3D (hologram) image on a flat screen/surface.

Whereas, "3D-EYE produces an actual 3d surface taken from a 2D image...A product that the sight impaired can enjoy

Yep a difference of course, but still the movement towards art for every man.....and woman......

Our culture is in flux.
