New To Faa

I'm so excited to be a part of this new season in my life on FAA! It's been tough knowing where to start and how to get my art out there. I'm young, I have plenty of time I know, but I'm so passionate that I just want to do everything at once! I've joined a couple of groups and entered a few contests so far. Any Suggestions on how to get my art out there?

Pleasure to meet your acquaintance Katrina!

My little piece of advice since you said you've joined a couple of contests... Remember that contests on FAA aren't usually what you might consider REAL contests but more of a way to help get you exposure for your art. That's the primary excuse you'll be left with. There is a lot of solicitation even when the "rules" from the host advises against it, and even within FAA itself. Not a perfect world, but some site updates are hopefully improving other things gradually. I seem to remember also that you need to be a member of FAA for 30 days before you're allowed to vote in contests or something like that.

Read everything you can about the site and you will learn how to link your images to social media, and tips on how to tag your images for searches, etc. There are multiple links on certain topics that you can search on that can help you learn the ropes in here. There are people willing to answer questions and some of them even work for FAA that are capable of more than answers.

I love your passion and understand how you feel. Just wait 'til you have your first sale!!!

All the best to you here on FAA.

Welcome. You have a very unique style:

You'll want to add lots more work and really push your FAA site on social media. It takes a lot of marketing to get your name out there. Mike Savad has several discussions on here that you'll want to check out. I think one is called Marketing 101. Keep entering contests and joining groups. Yes, most aren't real contests, but its another way to get your art out there, and some contests actually have benefits. There was a contest recently that someone was working with a client to buy photos for their home and the top 50 entries were presented to their clients and they are buying several pieces from various artists. Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thank you everyone!
Jennifer- Thank you! Yeah I've been contemplating whether I should everything I have online at once or stagger loading them on my site. Since everything new you upload shows up in the "new" section, correct? But since I've been getting a lot of views I probably will put a lot more on my site. I'll have to keep a look out for those contests.

The best way to get seen is to make your work known off of FAA. One thing I do is make a signature link in other online forums I participate in. Some forums provide a way to make a signature that is automatically added to any posts you make, while with others you have to add it manually each time. It's a very effective way to gain visibility without much effort,

I also have links to my work in every e-mail I send.
