Wordpress Blog And Fine Art America Synergy? Why Not?

I started my Wordpress Blog a few years back and it's definitely taken on a life of its own. At that time I discovered that maintaining my own gallery page was cumbersome and that is when I discovered Fine Art America. It was such an easy solution to just re-direct my gallery page to FAA. Now, several years later I am discovering a dynamic and interactive community at FAA and I'm thinking why not re-direct my FAA blog page to Wordpress, is this a lights on moment for me or am I just the last person to think of the idea? If you are interfacing your blogs, i'd like to hear how its working for you.

I use the FAA blog to simply direct anyone who might stumble over it to my WordPress blog, too. I don't know if it's working ... I do seem to get a few folks visiting from FAA, but it could as easily be from the links I add to the "blog" discussions here as anything else. I link that blog everywhere I can think of ... and I link IT to my artist website ... it's quite a tangled web I weave, lol!!!

Thanks for the reply Lois. It does get really confusing. It looks like you are doing something right based on the number of comments you get on each peace.

Thanks, Michael .. I think comments are a different kettle of fish. I really REALLY enjoy looking at art. And the fact that I can actually carry on a conversation with an artist about their creation is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I know a lot of people here have pooh poohed the whole commenting thing, and I respect that, but if they'd spent as many hours in art museums as I have ... as many hours cruising online art museums as I have ... feeling like I could burst with enthusiasm about a piece of art .. then they'd understand. And HERE .. .I CAN talk to the artists!! And because I feel that way, and I guess it shows when I comment around, the poor artists feel somewhat obligated to comment back, lol. Bless 'em!!! Sadly, I haven't been able to do as much of that as I normally do, lately ... but hopefully the pendulum will swing back. : ))

It's easy to press a like button, much more time consuming yet gratifying to connect with people through commenting and answering. I love it when someone takes the time to comment on my blog, it tells me that they really saw what I had to say. Yes, I'm now realizing that FAA is a whole new channel of communication. Thanks for your input Lois

great blog, Michael - FAA is literally a treasure trove of interesting people. I haven't been paying much attention to blogging lately but after seeing Lois' just a couple of days ago and now yours, I am thinking of getting more active.

Tatiana, I encourage you to do it. I don't have that much of a following (someone here said they get 100 views per posting ... I've come close a couple of times, but not with any regularity!!). It's probably a good thing as I think I'm still finding my "voice." Ridiculous thing to say after all this time behind a typewriter / computer, but I think it might actually be true. I used to write a humor column for a local paper, but then I branched off into writing The Great American Novel (haven't we all???) ... and so I seem to wobble between keeping it simple and not adding much personality at all ... to being rather serious and thoughtful ... to being goofy. Either way ... it's another creative outlet ... another way to stretch the mind and play. And that's what it's all about ... just having fun with it. Give it a try!!!

Thanks Tatiana, I appreciate you joining the discussion and checking out my blog. It really is a great compliment to FAA. Lois, I checked out your blog too. You do a great job with it and I like the way you are linking through the blog button.

Yes, yes .... I've been mixing it up for a few months and now I think their is a rhythm going.

First, I only use my WP.com for posting images ... few words. Second, my FAA blog is where I post words and sometimes pictures. Third, my FAA blog posts start out as content for my FAA email campaigns ... then tweaked based on email response .... and posted to the blog.

I also post some of the articles to the LInkedIn publishing platform which is their blog, and change it a bit based on that audience ... and to not confuse SEO.

Finally, I've started posting my group gallery features on my FAA blog. This is because I noticed that when my email followers click through to my FAA / AW they start clicking tabs. I want to guide them to what other artists see as art. .... nothing like a third-party endorsement. This I feel is more important than posting sales.

Back to WordPress -- The important thing is tagging for the WP search engine, more than Google. I like WP.com ( over WP.org ) because it comes with built in subscriber email and the Reader feed. At the bottom of my blog I have an RSS from my AW of latest artwork ... so my WP is my embassy fo Art and more, not my AW.

Here is the latest article about tagging: https://dailypost.wordpress.com/2015/02/12/tagging-shelf-life/
