Software For Anaglyphs

I want to do some anaglyphs (red/blue 3D images). I have a camera adapter that I've used successfully in the past, but it's been years and I'm looking for new software for this purpose.

My experience is that on today's web, Googling for something like this is a big waste of time. You get tons of old, obsolete links to programs that haven't been updated since Windows 98, buggy open-source projects that are perpetually unfinished, and pages of pure cr@p from content farms. To find out what's good today, it's better to just ask on a forum like this.

So, does anyone here do anaglyphs?

Jim,

Have you Googled "anaglyphs software reviews"? You might get a good article on what is out there.

And have you tried CNET.com. CNET is a great place to pick up software after reading reviews.
Many programs on CNET are free.

Please let me know what the hell Anaglyphs are? I have no idea what we are talking about.

David, think of "Creature From the Black Lagoon in 3D", and the photos of people in the audience wearing the cardboard glasses. That's an anaglyph.

Jim, If I remember correctly, there are some folks doing that here on FAA. It might be worth a search and sending a few messages to see what people are using.

Jim. have you considered making your own? It seems like a pretty easy process if you have Photoshop:

You could record all the steps into actions and you'd have your own anaglyph maker.

April - I don't have Photoshop, just Elements, so I can't create any custom actions.

Interesting idea. Something you may consider is getting the trial of photoshop and for a whole month you can make as many as you like.

For a while I've been wanting to explore lenticulars (the tilty 3d things), but it's hassle unless you're dedicated to it.

I've done traditional stereoscopes - my 3D renders are all stereoscopic, but as flat prints they can't compare to even ViewMaster quality of effect.

In the near future I suspect toystores will have glasses made of the amazing little electronic viewfinders in cameras. Hopefully.

I have a friend who's addicted to 3D and he swears by Stereo Photo Maker http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/
