My First Paid Photographers Assignment With Credits Appear In The Louisiana Film And Video Magazine The Photo Half Page Ad Is On Page 45 Right Hand Side
Hello fellow members my announcement of yet another extraordinary accomplishment. Recently I participated in Artist and Photographer Mary Ellen's discussion forum of her new involvement with Leasing Art Or Rent To Purchase. That discussion then lead me to post my very own success story and my involvement in a Movie Industry Magazine.
Two years ago I met another photographer at the coffee shop I visit on a daily basis. Jason who is from Minnesota happens to be an established photographer and free lance writer for the New Orleans Defender a on line local publication. Jason just so happens to free lance in the magazine the Louisiana Film and Video Publication. Louisiana is known as the Hollywood of the South. Here is the amazing story, prior to my retirement and involvement with the motion picture industry which was published in the magazine. This photo is my very first paid assignment with photographer credits. This is fate!
Months passed by and I completely had forgotten I took the photo. Jason with his busy schedule happened to pass by and dropped off a copy of the Louisiana Film and Video magazine. Jason was aware of my new involvement with motion pictures and thought I would like a copy. I was not present when Jason dropped off the copy and it was given to me by owner without explanation it was the copy the photo shoot I did for the ad was in that issue. To my amazement I read the entire copy from front to back flipping pages, setting it down. Then one day another friend at the coffee shop had asked me if I still had that copy. So here I am looking at it again and to my surprise there it was my very first photo and because I had completely forgotten about the photo which I considered a snap shop and nothing else I had realized that was the issue printed with my photo. The publisher was on a dead line to run his half page ad in the Louisiana Film and Video Magazine and had to go to press with the photo the day I took the photo.
Sometime last summer Jason had come forward and asked me, Michael how would you like to take a photo of his editor and himself? I of course said yes, we made the arrangements where the photo would be taken. It just so happens his boss is the owner of the on line publication he was in need of a photo. It was a very hot day and took a series of photos of Jason speaking to his boss. The image is lower right with my photographer credits appearing on the half page ad. This was my first paid published photo. Because of my involvement here at Fine Art America, Jason also is a member of Fine Art America.
Jason the writer/photographer for The New Orleans Defender is on the (right) and his boss is on the (left ). My plans are to get my photographers business card and actors business card published in this national Motion Picture Industry Magazine. I posted my story as a possible incentive for other artist or photographers who might consider a magazine of this type to possibly have a personal business interest.
