Featured On Homepage Within 24 Hours

I'm just noticing a new image on the Homepage. I followed it to find that the artist joined FAA only yesterday. I'm confused by this. How does that happen? It's not a horrible pic by any means but there are MANY fantastic pieces from many long-term members who I'm sure would love to see their images on the Homepage. I have to assume somebody knows somebody. Any thoughts?

I think the staff just picks what they like.

Is it national conspiracy month around here or something? ;)

Maybe to promote new artists?

I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. Just trying to imagine how that happens. I suppose they just captured the right pair of eyes at the right time...

Just "because"....that's why....new members have as much "right" to be featured as anyone does....

That's a good thing in my opinion. Means someone is paying attention!

Because (I believe) "they" are watching new uploads and sales for all the featured pages.

Craig, I agree. It shows that great art takes precedence over seniority, which is a good thing!

Pamela, I'm sure they try to observe the flow as much as possible but watching the "recent uploads" page shows a heavy stream of images that I don't think anyone can thoroughly process.

Maybe they promote their work somewhere effective. Do they have a lot of views?

When I first posted this yesterday, they had a total of 88 views (If my memory serves me). I don't think it's related to the amount of traffic they're driving here. Again, they're doing great work and it looks great on the homepage. I have to assume somebody on the staff just really likes their stuff and was fortunate enough to find it early on...

Featured art is on merit not on time here.

Is it printable? check
Is it saleable? check
Is it attractive? check
Would it look good on someones wall? check
Did it happen to come to a staff members view? check

I jointed FAA this month with total views around 300. But 18 out of my 22 paintings have been featured by one or more groups. I believe what Lady Isabella said is true.

Everything the Lady says is exactly as it should be, and everything on the homepage meets those criteria.

All I'm saying is that to land on the homepage within a 24 hour period is an anomaly of which I happened to notice and may even be a little envious of. I am not suggesting any foul play; only observing an uncommon occurrence which I found to be interesting. When I find something interesting, my next thought process is to ask "how?" and "why?".

I get the feeling, however, that the more I try to explain myself here, the more I'm going to sound like a "me too" kind of person, which is not at all my intentions. Thanks for listening.

Joe, it will just happen to be the last one I mentioned Did it happen to come to a staff members view?and be a good fit for the rest :)

Is it printable... there has been one work in particular that sold when it was featured soon after joining, it didn't pass the printable test.
Might just be my eyes, but the ones that are the topic of this thread don't look printable at all, but they look stellar on a screen.

The one I got featured once happened right when I uploaded it. I wasn't a new member then though.

Sounds like it just hit the right eyes at the right time.
