No More Checks

I have been a premium member since 2011. Not a long time compared to some folks, but been here and happy from the start. I was sent a check for a photo, but never received it. Have asked admin if I can get another one sent out. Seems I can, but must go exclusively with PayPal. FFA admin is saying that no new members can receive payment by check. Not sure when the new wears off. FFA tried to do this a few years ago, now being told the PayPal option will be the only payment source for all of us; its just around the corner. Since I made mention of my lost check, FFA has continued to make 2 more payments to me in check form. What are the rest of my FFA associates hearing?

I'm strictly on PayPal payout but I've only been here 13 months (as of yesterday). I never had the option of checks but PayPal is OK with me. I've only gotten payments four times thus far and will get a small one in February. March? Who knows?

I've been here since May, 2012 and have never had an option for a check. I was not a member of PayPal then and wasn't sure I would like it, but it's great. Very happy with it.

I started in 2007 and got checks. I was switched to PayPal and have not had any problems.

A check got lost at some point and I was forced to switch to PayPal.

Had problems with PP in the past but so far it's been ok with FAA.

I received a check just this week. Been here since 2009.

I had a lost check about 9 months ago and there was no mention of Paypal.

We ask people to switch if they lose a cheque, or forget to cash it. It is the whole reason cheques were stopped for anyone new. If you were not asked to change after losing one, or forgetting it, that was an oversight :)

This is one you really should give a try. There is a lot of advantages to PP payments, and you may well like it. Even though being forced to switch, see if this is going to be the problem you feared.

I was 'first' on the list when they stopped paying by check and sent it direct deposit - and the same holds true for PP. I've absolutely no desire to to to the bank to "cash" or deposit a check. I worked in a bank for a couple of years - a place I would never - unless someone put a gun to my head - work in again. I am not enamored that PP is owned by eBay - but there is so much more in life that aggravates me more.

Internationals were never allowed cheques. Always PayPal. I love the fact that I get paid on the 15th and have spent it by that evening lol.

We have just signed up with FAA and then we learned that we have to set up a PayPal account. YIKES!!! Is it hard to set PayPal up and then link it to FAA? Thank you

When you open up a PayPal account you are using your email address. So you would just go behind the scenes to payment information and put in that address.

I have never had a problem with checks. FAA has always been prompt. When Pay Pal becomes the only way... then we'll deal with that issue. As it is today... I prefer checks.

...double post....

Hi Jessica, Thank you for the behind the scenes info.

I assume that by setting up a PayPal account, I am giving PayPal my new business bank information, as well as my EIN and email address.

Thanks again for the replies to a newbie!!!

Paypal could not connect to two if my bank accounts(without reason) after I signed up. They refuse to cancel my account so I have been forced to file a suit. FAA's only help was to tell me to use someone else's Paypal account, followed my instruction on how to delete my account. Happily, Redbubbles, sames as FAA, offered 3 options for paynent...check, Paypal or direct deposit. FAA should take note before Paypal ruins their business.

Interesting that they pay out through PayPal but don't allow PayPal to be used for ordering Premium. Why not?

We can pay for web hosting elsewhere with PayPal.

I'm international so have been on PayPal right from the start. No problems and always very helpful on the phone.

I have been using PayPal to send and receive money since before it was sold to eBay, which must be nearly 15 years, I guess (gulp). It's never been an issue and is way more convenient than using checks.

I have been with PayPal since the first year they were in business. Thousands and thousands of transaction. Never any serious issues what so ever. The few hiccups that I have had were caused by the buyer, the seller or myself. Mostly typos in entering the account information by one the parties. PayPal themselves has been flawless.

It would be disappointing if I had to receive payment by check after seeing how smooth PayPal works with FAA.

Mitch,
Logic tells me that you've been in touch with your bank. They help customers connect to paypal all the time.
What have they said?

About 2-3 years ago, Sean announced that paypal would be the only way to be paid, that we should start making arrangements to switch over, if we were receiving checks....I even recall the deadline was in July. So much discussion ensued and specific problems for some artists, that he extended his deadline until another option could be figured out. No new requests could have the option to get a check, however.
To the best of my knowledge and recollection, hat was the last we heard of it.
