A Faa "art Collector" Entered My Image On Boredpanda...wth?

I received a comment on an image of mine:

"I submitted this picture to a compilation of the "World's Most Magical Streets Shaded by Flowers and Trees". Currently it's 81/94 (and of course you're cited). Feel free to up-vote it here: boredpanda.com/bridge-road-in-hobe-sound-florida-usa/" From Colby Devereaux Beverly Hills, CA - United States.

Now, I from what I've read, this is just a "show and tell" sort of list. There's no true credit to me unless someone clicks on the FAA link below the image (and most won't). How did he take the whole image like that? I thought FAA protected against that. If he screen captured it, why would the link be below the photo?

I'm kind of pissed, but at least he told me about it. Should I report the image to BoredPanda, thank him and tell him to put my name on it or let it go? Does anyone know what BoredPanda is all about?

Here's the pic: Art Prints

I would reply to him with an annoyed "who gave you permission to post MY image anywhere?" email.

It's a site where photos are used for things like "15 best well-timed" photos or "20 cutest cats".

"I'm kind of pissed,"

I would stop everything and figure out why. Is that a subconscious reaction or a trained response? What do you suppose might happen; what do you imagine could possibly be wrong? What is the harm? Where is the damage?

Normally I jump on copyright infringement etc but.... 'Most magical'? And your link is attached? No, they should not have done it without asking but, 'most magical'? With your link attached? I think I would actually be jumping about that free advertising opportunity. Just once

I can see why you are mad. It's all about permission. I am not a fan of the "ask forgiveness afterward" approach to life.

Will it still bother you if you get a sale from it?

My guess it that the site that it is posted on takes the submitted link and generates the source listing (source:fineartamerica) automatically such that the person posting it does not have the option to put your name in. Other than the permission thing, it seems like a good thing for you with another link pointing to your artwork. It may or may not generate human traffic directly to your page but it will get picked up by google and other search engines and benefit you in that way.

One: The art collector is in Beverly Hills, Ca. Meaning he's a real, live, breathing human in the land where seems most of FAA think only bots reside
Two: He's an art collector. Perhaps some day he will buy this image he liked so much he wanted to share.
Three: Keeping the above in mind, consider very carefully how you'd like to respond to him, whether it's a Thank You note or a You Shouldn't Have Done That Note.
Four: Most of the times our images are used, we find them ourselves, there is no credit given, no link given and the image is being used for a commercial purpose. But as Abbie put it so well -- "'Most magical'? And your link is attached?"

Bored panda is a VERY popular content delivery site - similar to Buzzfeed, they put interesting things in people's Facebook feeds and then get ad revenue when people visit the link.
It could mean a LOT of new eyes on your work, and if it links to your image here, then that's fantastic. I'd be re-sharing the link to the BP article like crazy if I were you.

You all are great!

@Dan Turner, LOL! I'm guessing it was my subconscious reaction and posting here was necessary to get it out of my system and absorb everyone's ideas on this. Thanks for making me think.

I so appreciate everyone's input and will embrace this as an opportunity.

I have something like 485 Pinterest followers. I invite them to repin my work with links day and night.
It is not a written request, but a de facto take it with the link and knock yourselves out.

I hope people will copy and paste my images links and all as much as possible.

Free marketing? Who'd a thunk it?
