He's probably like me, finding useful information about one of the most popular photo sharing apps, and sharing it. A lot of us are in INSTAPRINTS also.
I LOVE Instagram and am probably more active there than anywhere. It's such a visual experience and an easy one compared to others

Thank you Frank for your help and inormation. Is "@mentions" reposting someone's post on your post?

What at the moment I find a pain is with my phone I can't do a reshare of someones post. The app I use for Instagram doesn't offer that feature at this time.

All of my energy is going into Flickr,,,Somehow I find it hard to take Instagram seriously,...???!!! I post once in a while but always feel like its a inferior non professional site!...Coincidently yesterday I started sharing photos from my flickr site to Instagram and have been getting good responses! One thing I don't understand is that the Flickr post invites people to follow the link and comment on the photo, I occassionally get updates from Instagram that indicate that someone has commented on my photo I posted from Flickr but there is no comment on the Instagram or Flickr photo,

How do you share from flickr to instagram - I can't see that option only the other social media sites - or do you have to do it on a mobile device
9 Years Ago
Paul I do it from both,,,On Samsung Galaxy 4 I just use the Flick app that I installed,I merely click on the image I want to share and the share tool comes up which t gives me the option to share to numerous sites which includes instagram,EDIT.. Paul..I don't share from pc but if I wanted to I could add the instagram account on the mac and it would allow me to share my iPhotos to instagram, I added the flickr account and it is so convenient, on the mac I just click on any image to share and i can designate which album to share it with and whether I want it to be public or private, The instagram account I assume would be the same thing if I choose to add it in future, Hope this helps!

"Are you a part of or have you joined Instagram? "
Lisa -- I've been on IG almost a couple years. I post about once per week art that I upload to Instaprints.com ( Brand of FAA ). Otherwise, I'm mostly social commenting each day on others posts and using @mentions of my contacts, or contacts I want to engage, in my comments. In other words, if I see a post of interest for the local dentist to see I'll use his/her @mention in my comments.
Matthias - Have you noticed an uptick in new members on InstaPrints, as I know you spend time there like I do. Their are a hand-full of incredible IG photographers on Instaprints, one has a really nice group. I suspect many are leaving FB or IG ...
Judy -- I too live on Flickr, as it is a best platform for photography and photographers ... store, sort, share, .... and I get great results from it. I think you can share to Flickr when you post to IG but not the other way??? What I do is mostly use the iPad apps for both and I upload first to Flickr and share from there to IG on the iPad. The Flickr app for iPad I think blows away the IG app.
I thought this article might be of use to all of you, as I'm seeing a reason why Facebook is making the changes they are after buying IG. Said in another way for us artists and photographers, I think IG is a place to promote our personal Brand, and Flickr is a place to show and share our art and photography on many online platforms. Facebook is a noisy mess that fewer and fewer are getting immediate impact and response from.

Frank, I find the opposite true, the photos that are in my IG account cannot be shared to flickr. But photos in my flickr account can readily be shared with instagram from my phone, It may be a privacy setting I need to change within my instagram account,,,not sure, ..will check it out!
Frank, promoting our brand is basically sharing our photos is it not? Our brand is our photos basically,,??!! What are we without them really!
Edit I checked my IG account and every photo I share on instagram that is shared from flickr has the link to check the photo and comment as mentioned above,,,However the link is not clickable,,,and I doubt many people would go out of their way to paste the link to a browser,,,However as I mentioned above some notifications I have gotten from IG have noted that someone posted comments and the comment is nowhere to be found,,,?

I think you might be right, I don't pay much attention to that as I don't use it that way.
"Frank, promoting our brand is basically sharing our photos is it not? Our brand is our photos basically,,??!! What are we without them really! "
Our Brand is our name or business name, not our photos.

I have both apps, Flickr and instagram but only use Instagram to share to FB, Flickr, tumblr and four square
You would be surprised how many original artists sell via Instagram. Not so photographers. We don't load sales talk but images of wips and then can often get enquires via dm. Love Instagram.

Excellent use of Instagram, Abbie. It's often a value message more than a sales message that gets results. As the article in my OP illustrates.

Judy -- Confirming. I did an upload yesterday on the iPad in Flickr app for iOS and their was not an option to share to IG I believe. However, when I post to IG from the iPad their was an option to share to Flickr. Don't know why it is this way, as Flickr is suppose to be a sharing platform.

Frank there is one on the android app, When I click on any image I uploaded to Flickr on the Samsung galaxy 4 I get the share button which gives me the option to share to any of 50 different sites including IG, It is also an option on my Google Nexus 7 tablet. I get the share button on that too, On my apple IMAC I had to add the account for flickr to share ,,maybe you need to add the account on your phone too?!

EDIT PAUL... I have a share button on Flickr on IMAC which does not include IG but I do have the option of getting the html or embedding the code which can be used to share to different platforms, As mentioned before on my samsung galaxy iv i have the flickr app installed and it gives me the share button which allows me to share to IG and to numerous other platforms, Im not sure my previous response was very clear,

Frank and Abbie,
Can I add IG to my desktop? Is it phones only? I am working with a PC.
Does FAA work with IG to print? Or is that gone? And can I use my PC and FAA through IG all together?
I have gone to the IG site and all they offer are apps for iPhones and Droids. Can I get around this?
I have a dumb phone only.
Dave
Addition from IG's help section: Note: You can't take or upload photos from a desktop computer.
This for me only is a dead end. This stymies some of the creativity. JMO

Hello all...trying to figure out how I could use Instagram for digital art created on a laptop (that I have set up like a PC). I also have an iPhone. Any ideas?

Yes, when you post an image on IG you can then upload it to InstaPrints.com ( IP ). You can also upload image to IP from your computer.

I have an iPad and upload from my Mac via. Dropbox. You can then post to IG in their app for iPad or iPhone.
